Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In the vicinity of the city of U\u00edge, a space is being prepared where a neighborhood will be built for men dedicated to the cultural arts, announced yesterday the first provincial secretary of the MPLA, Jos\u00e9 Carvalho da Rocha, in a meeting with journalists, photographers, musicians, internet users and artists.<\/b><\/p>\n

Jos\u00e9 Carvalho da Rocha clarified that, in the event of a victory for the MPLA, in the general elections of 24 August, the Government will continue the ongoing actions, which have already allowed the location and division of the space destined for the future “artists’ district”.<\/p>\n

“This is the name we chose to welcome all the artists resident in this city of U\u00edge”, said the first provincial secretary when responding to a concern of a musician, present at the meeting, during the presentation of the MPLA government program.<\/p>\n

Carvalho da Rocha said that he felt very happy when, at the meeting, the question of housing was raised, which was also part of the Government’s concerns in the past term, the concrete steps that allowed many young people to have “own home \u201d, in completed housing projects.<\/p>\n

“I want to create a new neighborhood just for artists, in case we once again deserve the approval of the people at the polls in August. We are confident that we will renew the mandate, to continue with the work we started in favor of youth and artists do U\u00edge\u201d, he assured at the meeting, which lasted more than two hours.<\/p>\n

He stated that every effort is being made to recover spaces that used to belong to Culture and that are abandoned or under the undue control of private entities. “We are currently identifying these places and with the competent authorities we seek to recover and place them in favor of artists and art makers”, he announced.<\/p>\n

He also expressed his interest in continuing to promote the creativity of musicians and other artists, through the creation of recording studios, recreational spaces, culture clubs and other opportunities linked to the exhibition of works of art.<\/p>\n

Carvalho da Rocha said he always counts on the availability of artists to discuss problems and find solutions. Those who intervened during the extended meeting expressed concerns related to the lack of decent housing, opportunities and places for the exhibition of their creations, as well as studios for recording discs.<\/p>\n
