Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Traditional, religious and teaching authorities in the municipality of Lucala, 36 kilometers east of Ndalatando, Cuanza-Norte province, appealed for the observance of civility, ethics, political tolerance and respect for difference, so that the August 24 elections take place in a climate of tranquility.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press on Thursday, the general soba of the municipality of Lucala, S\u00e9rgio de Almeida, considered it important that people pass on messages of tranquility and harmony at this time, so that the next elections are a celebration of democracy in the country.<\/p>\n

The general soba appealed to everyone to be agents that transmit the feeling of peace and harmony, because elections are a civic duty and whoever wins must form a government of all Angolans, without distinction of race or party affiliation.<\/p>\n

For the pastor of the Toco\u00edsta church Sim\u00e3o Pedro, the religious authorities are called, at this stage, to play a fundamental role in the moralization of people, redoubling useful advice during services. He added that a country is only free and democratic when the people have the right to freely choose those who can govern them.<\/p>\n

Professor Agostinho Mal\u00e9 stressed that the country is entering a final phase of the process of renewing mandates, during which political parties must devise programs that convince the electorate.<\/p>\n

For the elections to take place in a climate of peace, harmony, security and tranquility, Agostinho Mal\u00e9 stressed that the contestants and their militants, sympathizers, as well as the population in general, must look at each other as an adversary and not as an enemy to be slaughtered. “This is fundamental, because we are all few to build the Nation”.<\/p>\n

Maria de Sousa, resident of the Ngola-Nhinhi neighbourhood, said that expectations are high for the 24th of August, appealing to the serenity and responsibility of all political actors, so that everything goes without any anomaly.<\/p>\n

Data from the Municipal Electoral Commission indicate that 13,294 voters are expected at the polls, with the availability of 14 assemblies and 25 polling stations throughout the municipality of Lucala.<\/p>\n
