Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>On Sunday morning, writer Jos\u00e9 Eduardo Agualusa held a meeting with writers and readers of his work at the Hotel Globo, in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a lengthy conversation that lasted until the afternoon, Agualusa answered questions from various audience figures, from voracious readers of his work, literary critics, editors, academics and journalists who were present at the event.<\/p>\n

The writer not only focused on his work, but also shared unique views and moments in the process of his literary production. For Agualusa, his writing is inextricably contaminated by poetry, and, among many pieces of advice, he asked young writers to be more attentive to the world around them.<\/p>\n

“Many times these young writers still don’t have the whole writing strategy but they have stories to tell, which ends up being more important. They have stories that need to be told. For young writers, I advise them to look for stories, because writing also implies having open doors, let the stories come to us\u201d, underlined the author of “The General Theory of Oblivion”.<\/p>\n

Agualusa emphasized that the culture of reading is an indispensable path for anyone who wants to be a writer. From his experience on the importance of reading, he shares that his books are reasons to collect other books of different knowledge.<\/p>\n

“Reading is the right way. You have to read a lot, especially the world classics of literature. You can only be a writer when you are a good reader. Any writer is a child of books, and it is by reading that you learn to write, there is no other way.” \u201d, he stated.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, Irene Amosi, the organizer of the project “From the Word to the Word”, left satisfied for having managed to accomplish everything she had planned for the inaugural edition of a project that aims to be a bridge between writers and their audience.<\/p>\n

“We realized that Agualusa was in Angola and we wanted to find a way to bring it closer to its readers, and we didn’t expect it to take shape. The event was designed based on the idea of \u200b\u200bhaving Agualusa as the first guest writer for the project”, he said. .<\/p>\n

Writer, actor and playwright, Fernando Carlos was the moderator of the meeting. For him, Agualusa’s experience is one of the richest in Angolan literature, considering that he is currently one of the most international Angolan writers. “It was much more than a meeting. I have no doubt that we had a masterclass here. We managed to absorb knowledge that will be important in our craft”, he evaluated.<\/p>\n

Organized by writer Irene Amosi, supported by Kino Yetu, Art Sem Letra and Goethe Institut Angola, this was the inaugural edition of an event that arises from the need to bring together the words of the writer and the reader about his work.<\/p>\n
