Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Norwegian ambassador to Angola, Kikkan Marshall Haugen, who ended his mission in the country, yesterday presented his farewell greetings to the Head of State, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, in Cidade Alta. The diploma described the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries as satisfactory, having underlined that they move more than three billion dollars.<\/b><\/p>\n

Kikkan Marshall Haugen referred, after leaving the meeting, that the four years of mission in Angola allowed, among other things, to strengthen cooperation. “Relations between Norway and Angola are strong, particularly in the economic sector,” he said, adding that the country is currently one of the most important partners in Africa.<\/p>\n

He added that economic cooperation is valued at between 2 and 4 billion dollars. “Our energy-related company is responsible for around 10 percent of oil production in Angola,” he said. The diplomat, who did not elaborate on the next challenge to be faced, reported a possible increase, in the coming years, of Norwegian investment in various sectors such as renewable energy and the economy.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Kikkan Marshall Haugen stressed that Norway also supports Angola in the area of \u200b\u200bhuman rights, civil society, scientific research, job creation for youth, among other areas. Relations, he said, between the two countries are guided by mutual respect and political dialogue.<\/p>\n

For Norway and other democracies, such as Angola, the ambassador highlighted, respect for territorial integrity is very important. Thus, he referred that Angola and Norway will strengthen ties, when the President of the Republic, in the event of winning the General Elections, visits the country, in November this year.<\/p>\n

“It will be an opportunity to increase and strengthen relations between the two countries,” he said. In addition to Angola, Kikkan Marshall Haugen served as non-resident ambassador to the DRC, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and S\u00e3o-Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe.<\/p>\n

The Kingdom of Norway is a Nordic country, located in Northern Europe, where it occupies the western part of the Scandinavian Peninsula and the island of Jan Mayen and the arctic archipelago of Svalbard, through the Treaty of Svalbard.<\/p>\n
