Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The electrification project through hybrid and photovoltaic generation systems in 60 locations in five provinces will save around 30 million euros a year, compared to the use of diesel generators, in addition to promoting the multifaceted development of communities.<\/b><\/p>\n

The initiative provides for an increase of 295.8 Megawatt (MW) in photovoltaic generation capacity and 719 MWh in energy storage capacity, and is expected to serve 909,968 beneficiaries distributed in 202,657 homes with the installation of the same number of prepaid meters. .<\/p>\n

According to a document from the Public Electricity Production Company (PRODEL), the project aims to electrify 60 localities distributed in the provinces of Malanje, with 20 localities, Lunda-Norte (15), Lunda-Sul ( 9), Moxico (12) and Bi\u00e9 (4).<\/p>\n

Overall, the electrification of 20,385 homes is planned for the province of Malanje, out of a universe of 101,925 beneficiaries, Lunda-Norte will have 74,368 homes (309,891), Lunda-Sul will have 8,970 homes (43,057), Moxico will have 59,483 homes (273,621) and Bi\u00e9 with 39,451 households (181,474).<\/p>\n

Structuring Projects<\/b><\/p>\n

The long-term strategy, included in the “Angola 2025” program, establishes as one of the goals, to reach a degree of electrification of 60 percent by 2025. The forecast of demand arising from the planned electrification process is in the order of 7.2 Gigawatt.<\/p>\n

The planned electrification is based on the implementation of 48 hybrid photovoltaic generation systems, with energy storage in lithium-ion batteries (“Isolated Systems”), as well as the expansion of the national electricity grid in the province of Malanje, through the integration of two line outputs in the Malanje 110\/30 KV substation, construction of 110 and 30 KV networks to supply 10 new communes, in addition to the construction of two new 10 MVA, 110\/30 KV substations, in the Kiwaba Nzoji and Caculama communes ( Mucari), which will be integrated into the national network.<\/p>\n

The source also points out the expansion of the existing electricity network between Dala and Luena, in Moxico province, construction of a 30 kV line between the Camanongue substation and the L\u00e9ua commune.<\/p>\n

The Government’s project includes the electrification of 60 communes, through the construction of medium or low voltage distribution networks and the connection of 202,657 homes, in addition to the installation of an equal number of prepaid meters.<\/p>\n

The document points out that several projects and programs have already been implemented and others are in progress, with the intention being to promote the country’s sustainable and diversified development.<\/p>\n
