Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Psychologist Walter Castelo Branco warned this Sunday, in Luanda, of the risks of new and more cases of mental illness in the country, due to the current way of life of many young people.<\/b><\/p>\n

The specialist believes that some social problems, such as the growing number of unwanted pregnancies, teenage parents and premature or forced marriages, are the main basis for the development of emotional and mental illnesses.<\/p>\n

Among the very common psychological pathologies, due to this type of social problems, the psychologist pointed to some chronic diseases, autistic spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities.<\/p>\n

Generally, he admitted, mental health problems tend to be transient and arise from the most varied situations, from going to school, issues of adolescence, anxiety caused by menopause, fear of aging and life losses such as death. of a loved one, divorce, or even unemployment.<\/p>\n

“During the last few years, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a strong impact on people’s mental health, not only in Angola, but in the world. hospitalized and even the death of loved ones. All these aspects, when associated with the loneliness of quarantine and social isolation, as well as the financial difficulty and severe job loss recorded at the time, caused mental health problems, which until today still have repercussions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

For the psychologist, one of the concerns to be taken into account is the fact that there is no standard formula for improving mental health. “When we are aware of what is happening, we need to look for a professional or count on the support of the family, in order to attend healthy environments, so as not to develop wrong attitudes and thus have a relapse, capable of becoming serious in the future. \u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Mental disorders, he continued, are syndromes characterized by disorders considered clinically significant, especially in the emotional state and behavior of the individual. “People should be careful with symptoms such as high anxiety, bad mood, constant fatigue, sadness, anger and discouragement”, she advised, in addition to asking for more attention to the level of quality of life for Angolans.<\/p>\n
