Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the MPLA and candidate for President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, guaranteed, on Monday (8), that he will support and finance the setting up of a drug quality control laboratory at the Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Industrial de Luanda (IPIL), aka Makarenko.<\/b><\/p>\n

The guarantee was given by the president of the MPLA, during the guided visit to Expo-Mulher 2022, after hearing in detail from a group of final year students of the Biochemistry course at IPIL about the importance of Biotechnology and its impact on the daily lives of citizens.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, who did not make any statement to the press accompanied by his wife Ana Dias Louren\u00e7o, toured each space at Expo-Mulher for two and a half hours, interacting directly with exhibitors from the 18 provinces. After securing the support, the young students were thrilled with emotion in a moment marked by cries of joy, pride in their achievements and the promise of a laboratory that will contribute to the performance of academic challenges and beyond.<\/p>\n

At the event that runs until Sunday under the theme “Women committed to the peace and development of Angola”, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o made several stops to ask questions and receive clarifications, and at times the women made a point of questioning him sometimes to offer delicacies, pray to express a word of appreciation and encouragement.<\/p>\n

Patr\u00edcia Bartolomeu, 18 years old and a finalist in the Industrial Biochemistry course, said that they presented to the MPLA leader the suggestion of what would be a drug quality control laboratory, with emphasis on vitamins, antibiotics and analgesics and medicines exported in general.<\/p>\n

Bearing in mind that the country does not produce medicines, he continued, the main objective with the laboratory is to guarantee the quality control of medicines that are purchased outside the country to assess whether or not they can be consumed. “With this initiative, we first control the quality and proceed further with the assembly of drug industries in Angola”.<\/p>\n

Asked about the reaction of the MPLA candidate for President of the Republic, after listening carefully to the explanations, Patr\u00edcia Bartolomeu confided: “The President said that he will support and finance the laboratory that will be set up at the Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Industrial de Luanda, where we will be able to control quality of the medicines we so desire”.<\/p>\n

Still excited and flanked by her colleagues who were equally excited about the good news, the finalist in the Industrial Biochemistry course said she was proud and prepared to face the next challenges.<\/p>\n

“We feel in conditions and we are women empowered and very willing to learn and continue to work in this area to develop the country and society”, she continued.<\/p>\n

One of the main difficulties for students in the area, he indicated, has been the lack of laboratories that are not fully equipped: “We often work in a resourceful way, because some reagents and other materials are very expensive and the Institute cannot buy them all. These constraints create difficulties for us in our practice”.<\/p>\n

The young student, who was accompanied by her colleagues and a tutor, took to the exhibition a project designed by women from the organization “Mind Access Woman” enrolled at the IPIL (Instituto Polit\u00e9cnico Industrial de Luanda) incubator, where chemistry students discuss the importance of of Biotechnology and its impact on everyday life, as well as on the production of homemade yogurt.<\/p>\n

Renewable Energy<\/b><\/p>\n

In another pavilion, the Kandengues of the Clube de Qu\u00edmica presented to the MPLA candidate a project on renewable energy and the procedures for obtaining it from fruit.<\/p>\n

Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o interacted with the Kandengues for a good long minutes. He was also informed about the production of handmade soap using recyclable material, one of the projects also of the Academia dos Kandengues Cientistas.<\/p>\n

For the professor and founder of the Kandengues Cientistas academy, Pedro Paris, from President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, there was a word of encouragement to continue working and a positive feedback. After having shared the day-to-day at the Academia dos Kandengues Cientistas with the leader of the MPLA, little Francilene Augusto, 11 years old, said that she has the responsibility of instructing the new members of the academy how to produce soap based on of recycled oil.<\/p>\n

Despite being small in stature, Francilene already works as a tutor at the Clube dos Kandengues Cientistas, where she spends most of her time. She said that she can already make soap, alcohol gel, pan shine, among other products.<\/p>\n

Proud and with a smile on her face, she stressed: “I can already do it alone and teach other children”. In the meeting she had with the leader of the MPLA, little Francilene appealed to Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o to support the academy with the acquisition of raw materials, by the way a great difficulty with which the academy is struggling.<\/p>\n

Organization Of Angolan Women<\/b><\/p>\n

The secretary general of the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA), Joana Tom\u00e1s, said that Expo-Mulher 2022 has the participation of more than 1,500 exhibitors from all over the country.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the head of the women’s arm of the MPLA stressed that the Expo, organized by the OMA, still has a waiting list of more than 500 women waiting for a space on the Marginal de Luanda.<\/p>\n

All provinces are represented and each one has brought what its region produces. Joana Tom\u00e1s informed that, due to the demand and the interest of more exhibitors in the waiting list at the Expo, it was initially scheduled to close tomorrow, but that it will be extended until Sunday.<\/p>\n

The activity, he said, is an OMA initiative, but is open to all women in Angola who contribute to the country’s development. At the fair, divided into several pavilions, products that represent the national cultural and gastronomic diversity are on display, as well as a women’s pavilion in Science, Technology, among others.<\/p>\n
