Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A delegation from the European Union, headed by its ambassador to Angola, Jeannette Seppen, traveled on Friday morning (12) to the MPLA headquarters to present the two observers who will work in the General Elections on the 24th of this month.
\n<\/b>
\nThe delegation, which will carry out the same act with other political forces competing for the election, was received, in audience, by the secretary of the MPLA Political Bureau for International Relations, Manuel Augusto.<\/p>\n

The observers have already been presented this week to the National Electoral Commission (CNE). The European Union is part of the group of international organizations to which the CNE invited to observe the 5th Angolan General Elections. The African Union, Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP), SADC, US Carter Center, Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), International Conference for the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), Forum of Electoral Commissions of SADC (Southern African Development Community) Countries and Conference of African Jurisdictions.<\/p>\n

Diplomats Inside The Governance Plan<\/b><\/p>\n

The secretary for Economic Policy of the MPLA, Idalina Valente, presented, yesterday, to the diplomatic corps accredited in Angola the Government Program of her party, as part of the electoral campaign underway in the country, for the General Elections of 24 August.<\/p>\n

The event took place in one of the hotels in Luanda and was attended by the MPLA Secretary for International Relations, Manuel Augusto, and the Minister of Economy and Planning, M\u00e1rio Caetano.<\/p>\n

Idalina Valente presented to the ambassadors the great commitments of the MPLA to the aspirations of the Angolan people that have been materialized since 1956, the date of the party’s foundation, in the defense of freedom, social justice, fraternity and equal opportunities for all.<\/p>\n

He described the history of the MPLA, which is based on the fight against all forms of injustice and discrimination, highlighted the main achievements, such as National Independence in 1975, the holding of the first general elections in 1992, the achievement of peace on April 4, 2002 , victory in the 2008 legislative elections and the 2012 and 2017 general elections.<\/p>\n

“In 2017, the MPLA and its leader, comrade President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, under the slogan: Improve what is good and correct what is wrong, started a firm and rigorous fight against corruption, impunity, nepotism and flattery. , which has allowed the restoration of citizens’ trust in the country’s institutions”, he said.<\/p>\n

He said that the Executive, with a view to correcting the imbalances, in January 2018, started the implementation of a Macroeconomic Stabilization Program and that in December of the same year it started to receive technical and financial support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), through an Expanded Funding Program, which ended in December 2021.<\/p>\n

He also highlighted the implementation of the Privatization Program (PROPRIV), which allowed the privatization of more than 84 assets, a total of 132 to be privatized. Reference was also made to PRODESI, the Informal Economy Reconversion Program (PREI) and the Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability (PAPE), which allowed the creation of 115,417 jobs.<\/p>\n

Also among the Executive’s actions, the Integrated Program for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) and Kwenda were highlighted. Idalina Valente presented the structuring axes of the MPLA Government Program for 2022-2027. In the first axis, she highlighted the consolidation of the Democratic State and of Law and the Reform of the State, Public Administration, Justice and Social Communication and freedom of expression.<\/p>\n

In axis two, he highlighted land use planning, urbanism and housing. In the third, he explained that the MPLA proposes to promote human capital, expanding access to health services, knowledge and technical and scientific skills, promoting culture and sport and stimulating entrepreneurship and innovation.<\/p>\n

In order to implement this axis, the MPLA proposes to intervene in the fields of Health, Education, Higher Education, Science, Technologies and Innovation, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training, Sports and Culture. Axis four, on the other hand, deals with the population, social protection, gender equality, family, children, youth and the elderly. The fifth deals with the MPLA Government Program aimed at modernizing infrastructure and preserving the environment.<\/p>\n

The Polish ambassador and dean of ambassadors accredited to Angola, praised the MPLA’s initiative and said that it would be good for the other political formations to make their electoral programs known to the diplomatic corps. Piotr Mysliwiec said that he presented his concerns about the need to implement municipalities in Angola, as one of the best ways to solve the population’s problems and understands that issues related to Education and Health should be the responsibility of municipal administrations and provincial governments.<\/p>\n

The Chinese ambassador to Angola, Gong Tao, considered that the event was interesting, as it provided information on the results of the governance of the last five years and the prospects for the next five years. “This information is very useful and very enlightening. We are going to return home and carry out good studies, a good analysis and we will continue to work with the Government. We have confidence in the future of Angola”, he said.<\/p>\n
