Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Pedro Teta, a member of the MPLA Political Bureau, had, this Monday, in Brussels, a meeting with the Angolan community residing in Belgium, to whom he asked to vote on the 24th of this month, so that the party and President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o continue with their governance project.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a source, Teta had a meeting with hundreds of Angolans living in Belgium, including members of the MPLA Committee in Brussels. He stressed that Angola needs all its children, regardless of party affiliation, for the country’s socio-economic development.<\/p>\n

He considered that Angolans who, for some reason, are in the diaspora are as important and have the same rights and opportunities as those who live in Angola. The university professor also said that this is why the party amended the Constitution, which allowed, for the first time in the history of Angolan democracy, citizens in the diaspora to participate in elections.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged, however, that this is a new experience and that the next elections will be better and include the entire diaspora.<\/p>\n

According to Pedro Teta, the knowledge acquired in terms of technical-scientific skills by Angolans in the diaspora is important for the country’s socio-economic development. “The MPLA counts on the entire community in the diaspora, as they are children of Angola and the country has open arms to receive them”, he said.<\/p>\n

He said it was necessary to give another chance to the MPLA, led by Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o and who practically only governed two of the five years of the expiring mandate, because, along the way, he encountered many obstacles, such as the international situation itself, marked by the economic crisis and then by the emergence of of the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n
