Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The reduction of begging among people with disabilities is one of the main goals of the Social Project in Defense of the Disabled in Angola for the coming years, the president of the institution said Tuesday in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

M\u00e1rio Cangole added that, at the moment, the most worrying thing for the institution is the urgent reduction in the number of people with disabilities begging for alms, especially on the streets of the country.<\/p>\n

During a meeting, which brought together hundreds of people with disabilities, the president of the institution called the attention of the associates about the importance of changing their attitude. “We have made an effort, especially with state institutions, so that the disabled deserve more and more attention, respect and the love of society”, he said.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, which also served to talk about discrimination and social exclusion, as well as disrespect for the disabled, the institution’s associates spoke about the lack of housing, technical-professional training and the difficulties in accessing public transport. “Nobody asks to have a disability. It’s something that can affect anyone in the future. That’s why we fight, every day, to be heard, through letters sent to various State bodies and Non-Governmental Organizations, national and foreign”, he said. Mario Cangole.<\/p>\n

To the associates, the president of the institution also asked to avoid carrying out street demonstrations, as a sign of protest, due to the problems in the class. “There are other mechanisms”, he said, in addition to adding that the Social Project in Defense of the Disabled in Angola is a non-profit institution.<\/p>\n
