Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The National Electoral Commission already has more than 1,000 national observers, according to the institution’s spokesman, Lucas Quilundo, who was speaking to the press yesterday during the visit of the judges advisers of the Constitutional Court and members of the accredited diplomatic corps,in Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

He clarified that, so far, it is still not possible to advance an exact number of national and international observers, due to the fact that there are still people to be accredited: “What can be advanced is that from the set of organizations, whose CNE gave the approval, would be approaching the figure of more than a thousand national observers. In terms of international observers, the number is still not very significant, as most of them only started to disembark in the country yesterday\u201d.<\/p>\n

He informed that the process will end as soon as the approved lists are completed, containing the number of members of the observation commissions. He added that the process of requesting accreditation has already been completed, as it began on June 24, when the president of the CNE issued the first invitations to the organizations.<\/p>\n

Lucas Quilundo also mentioned that international observers come at the invitation of the President of the Republic, the National Assembly, the Constitutional Court and the National Electoral Commission.<\/p>\n

Asked about the technicians who will work at the National Scrutiny Centre, he explained that they were selected through a public curricular competition, organized by the CNE and submitted to specialized training, which enables them to carry out their tasks with all professionalism.<\/p>\n

Regarding the visit, the CNE spokesperson said that it is yet another demonstration of openness of transparency that the National Electoral Commission has promoted to the National Scrutiny Center, intended primarily for the adviser judges of the Constitutional Court, taking into account the role that this body plays. court plays in the context of the electoral process.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the Constitutional Court functions as an Electoral Court, the one in which the political parties that compete in the elections obtain the annotation, where the candidacies for the competing political formations are processed and the dispute is resolved. “It is the final point of the entire electoral process, hence the reason for the visit to show how the process of tabulating the results of the elections takes place”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Also within the framework of transparency in the electoral process, the diplomatic corps accredited in Angola also visited the Scrutiny Center, with emphasis on the United States of America, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, as well as the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP). .<\/p>\n

“Visitors welcomed the CNE’s initiative, as a sign not only of confidence in the process, but as a gesture of openness to a better understanding of the functioning of the electoral process,” said the spokesperson.<\/p>\n

Regarding the deadline given to the UNITA party for the nomination of delegates to the list abroad, Lucas Quilundo informed that he continues to wait for that party organization to overcome this problem and comply with what is established by law.<\/p>\n
