Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Interior, Eug\u00e9nio Laborinho, on Friday (19), in Luanda, appealed to voters to return to their homes, after exercising their right to vote, warning that the forces of public order will not allow any act aimed at pinching the electoral process.<\/b><\/p>\n

Eug\u00e9nio Laborinho, who was speaking at the end of the audience that the MPLA president granted to the head of the CPLP observation mission, the former Head of State of Cape Verde, Jorge Carlos Fonseca, referred specifically to the movement “voted, sat down “, fed by some citizens, including members of the list of UNITA deputies to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n

He referred that the forces of public order, which are responsible for ensuring the elections, will not allow such behavior to take place. “Vote and stay 500 meters from the assembly, no! Go home and wait for the results”, urged the Interior Minister, warning that no confrontation with the forces of public order will be allowed.<\/p>\n

On this matter, the Organic Law on General Elections provides that the presence of citizens whose behavior disturbs the order and tranquility of polling stations is not allowed, within a radius of 500 meters, and must be removed by the forces of the public order. In an opinion article published on the 7th of this month, in this newspaper, the jurist Sebasti\u00e3o Vinte e Cinco warns that this movement (voted, sat down!) itself “the risk of degeneration”.<\/p>\n

The jurist mentions in his article that the fact that tempers are predictable, at times such as voting, may inhibit many voters, particularly those over 30 years of age, who have in their memories images of the post-war period. election of 1992, to exercise their fundamental right to elect their legitimate representatives for the period 2022-2027.<\/p>\n

“On the other hand, the political cost for the promoters of this initiative of popular inspection of the vote and the counting of votes, could be enormous, due to the fact that Angolans are not willing to take the risk of reliving moments that they try, at all costs, to leave in the recent past in order to continue the process of national reconciliation”, he highlights in his article.<\/p>\n

So, go ahead, instead of voting, sat down! an initiative that could be called, “voted, bazou!”, to be promoted, preferably, by those who convened it, so that the superior interests of all Angolans are preserved.<\/p>\n
