Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan Swimming (FAN) and Athletics (FAA) federations nominated, on Friday, in Luanda, the athletes for the SADC Games, to be held from 30 November to 11 December, in Malawi.<\/b><\/p>\n

In swimming were pre-selected, Djamel Pires, Yusseni Furtado, Enzo Anjos, Jasmine Louren\u00e7o, Aleksandra Zhukov (all from 1\u00b0 de Agosto), Sofia Vieira and Alexia Vieira (individual).<\/p>\n

Rafael Bredel, Alex Fortes, Janel Tati, Emanuel Lutando, Lu\u00eds Monteiro, Jos\u00e9 Cochofel, N’hara Fernandes, Rafaela Santos, Nyriam Morais, Welwitchia Silva, Inata Santo, Milena Louren\u00e7o (CNIL), complete the group.<\/p>\n

According to a note from FAN, which ANGOP had access to, five to six male swimmers and an equal number of female swimmers will be chosen from this number to go on stage for the competition. The start of preparation is scheduled for September.<\/p>\n

In athletics, the federation selected only sprinter Marcos Santos to represent the country, according to the organization’s president, Bernardo Jo\u00e3o.<\/p>\n

Marcos was the only national ambassador at the Oregon World Championship, in the United States of America, who, despite being disqualified for an irregular start, ran 200 meters with a time of 22 sec.12dec.<\/p>\n

He was also national champion of the 100m event with a record of 10 secs and 10 dec and of the 200 meters, where he timed 21secs and 24 dec.<\/p>\n

In this event for athletes up to 17 years of age, Angola will also participate with football, basketball and 3×3 basketball (men and women), gymnastics, taekwondo, adapted athletics, Judo and Tennis.<\/p>\n

In the last edition, in Lesotho, the Angolan delegation finished fourth in the overall medal table. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) was created on 17 August 1992 at the Summit in Windhoek, Namibia.<\/p>\n

Its current members are: South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Seychelles.<\/p>\n
