Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In total, 240 health technicians were distributed across the provinces of Hu\u00edla, Cunene, Nam\u00edbe and Cuando Cubango, to help with family planning, prenatal, institutional delivery and prevention of sexually transmitted infections.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, an initiative of the Government of Angola, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Bank, also enabled 40 young people to be trained to work on mobilization in the communities, in relation to content related to sexual and reproductive health.<\/p>\n

Based on surveys carried out by UNFPA, a total of 2,771,027 adolescents and women aged 15 to 49 do not have access to family planning. \u201cThe provinces of Hu\u00edla, Cunene, Cuando Cubango and Nam\u00edbe are among the provinces with the greatest lack of access\u201d, highlights the document.<\/p>\n

To help reverse the situation, the Government of Angola, UNFPA and the World Bank decided to implement a sexual and reproductive health response program in the south of the country, with a view to reversing the situation in the long term.<\/p>\n

The program, they explained, will guarantee basic care for pregnant women, children, adolescents and young people.<\/p>\n
