In addition to classrooms, schools also have Biology, Physics and Chemistry laboratories, to combine theory with practice.

The current number of classrooms, according to the quinquennial report of the Provincial Government of Huíla, is still insufficient for the needs of the Education sector, taking into account that, with each passing year, the number of children to be included in the normal education and learning.

From 2017 to 2019, 835,016 students from initiation to primary education were enrolled in public and private education, of which 402,964 were female. From 2020/2021, enrollment reduced to 682,645, with 338,399 female students, due to Covid-19.

In the 2nd cycle institutions (lyceums), 17,332 students concluded the 12th grade, including 6,472 from the Physical and Biological Sciences course, 5,496 from Economic and Legal Sciences and 5,364 from Human Sciences.

According to the report, the number of teachers increased from 17,861 in 2017 to 19,587 in the academic year 2021/-2022. It should be noted that the reinforcement of teachers has to do with the public tenders of 2018/-2019, which admitted 1,456, and 2019/2020, which allowed the insertion of 489 teachers and 650 cleaning assistants.

The report reveals that the Polytechnic Institute of Humpata made 772 technicians trained in Environmental Management, Energy and Electrical Installations, Renewable Energy, Electronics and Telecommunications, Information Technology and Civil Works available to the job market during the period in question.

The Provincial Government of Huíla, also according to the report, will continue to give priority to the construction of schools and housing for teachers, as well as the preparation of arable land for agricultural practice and the raising of small animals, with a view to improving of the food diet.

The projects of the Provincial Government of Huíla aim to attract more young people to rural areas, where substantial improvements are already evident in the sectors of Health, Records, Formal and Informal Commerce, Transport, Education, Water, Energy and Telecommunications (TV and NET), according to the report.

Attractive Schools

Sociologist António Jeremias, who praised the authorities for the materialization of several programs that are improving the population’s quality of life and giving a new image to the municipalities, with emphasis on Lubango, Chibia, Cacula, Caluquembe, Matala, Jamba, Chipindo, Quilengues, Gambos and Humpata, said that the current infrastructures “already increase the taste for schools”.

António Jeremias, who, among other activities, is also dedicated to investigating the behavior of the Nhyaneka Nkhum-bi tribe, argued that sociocultural factors, with emphasis on transhumance and natural phenomena, such as cyclical drought, interfere with the schooling of children and adolescents. .

He said that most families, eager to maintain the performance of their livestock, especially cattle, travel long distances in search of water and pasture, which makes children and young people move. “Many even drop out of classes, while others find it difficult to fully assimilate the contents, due to fatigue”.

He described that the construction of schools in villages and municipal seats, including the intervention of missionaries from different religious congregations, have reversed the devaluation of the school or other formations, to the detriment of family wealth.

“Currently, the quality of textbooks and school furniture, as well as the availability of teachers, are attracting the attention of students and guardians”, he described, highlighting the girls as the ones who, for two years, have attended classes more regularly.

António Jeremias believes that the existence of more teachers in schools in rural areas may be one of the reasons for attracting children, adolescents and young people. “This is a fact that is also observed in school performance, where boys are no longer at the top of failures”.

Contain Vandalism

Members of civil society and Defense and Security bodies defend the strengthening of actions to raise awareness among the population in order to prevent the vandalism of public assets, such as schools, where windows, locks, desks, tables are not spared and electrical and drinking water supply systems.

Father Angelino Manuel considered urban centers to be the places where public property is most vandalized. “Sometimes one gets the feeling that such practices are purposeful, because there are those who destroy the good thinking they will enjoy something to take away, but no”.

In the prelate’s opinion, it is exhausting to hire guards for everything that serves the interests of the communities. “Each inhabitant of a neighborhood, village, commune, municipality or province must feel like a policeman, with a mission to protect the good of all”.

For More News And Analysis About Angola Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Angola.
