Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Two brothers, one aged 25 and the other aged 27, were arrested on Wednesday morning (24) by the National Police at a polling station in Zango I, municipality of Viana, province of Luanda, after the most new one allegedly tried to vote on behalf of the eldest, who is a Jehovah’s Witness.<\/b><\/p>\n

The alleged attempt to commit an electoral crime was detected by the president of one of the polling stations installed at the “Cantinho da Vani” college, where the youngest went, who was asked to remove his face mask to confirm his identification, after having delivered an identity card.<\/p>\n

When he realized that the person in front of him did not correspond to the name or the photograph on one of the electoral rolls, the president of the aforementioned polling station informed the forces of public order and security, who were outside the college ” Vani’s Corner”.<\/p>\n

After confirming the alleged attempt to carry out an electoral crime, the 25-year-old was arrested and, on the occasion, confirmed that he tried to impersonate his brother for having given up going to a polling station, in the Kikuxi area, also in the municipality of Viana, where he should exercise his right to vote.<\/p>\n

The young man ended up revealing that his brother Jehovah’s Witness was waiting for him outside the “Cantinho da Vani” school, having then lured the eldest inside the school, at the request of the Police, to also be detained. .<\/p>\n

Not knowing that his brother was already in police custody, the eldest entered the school, without having suspected anything, where he was also arrested, without imposing any type of resistance.<\/p>\n

The two brothers were sent to the Zango 0 police station, where they must be present, even today, to the Public Ministry, for the application of one of the coercive measures provided for in the Criminal Procedure Code.<\/p>\n

All over the world, Jehovah’s Witnesses do not exercise their right to vote because they consider themselves neutral in political matters, a position they defend on the grounds that it is based on the Bible.<\/p>\n
