Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola plans to start autonomously certifying and accrediting goods and services as of next year, with technicians being trained, the National Institute for Quality Infrastructures (INIQ) announced yesterday.<\/b><\/p>\n

The head of the INIQ’s Accreditation and Technical Regulations Department, Carlos Santos, told R\u00e1dio Nacional de Angola that procedures are underway to submit Angolan staff for evaluation by the International Accreditation Forum and the International Laboratory Accreditation Body.<\/p>\n

Carlos Santos said that, currently, the institution has the support of Portugal for issuing certification and accreditation of products and, “as long as we do not have the international technical credentials to do it by ourselves, we do it through our counterparts”.<\/p>\n

Angola has an agreement with the Portuguese product certification association, which “allows us to certify any demand in the national market for certification”, added Carlos Santos.<\/p>\n

These matters, he continued, lack international technical recognition, including the training of technicians who will then be auditors for the certification activity, and will be evaluators for the accreditation services.<\/p>\n

Although Angola already has five products whose certification is mandatory, including steel, cigarettes, lightning rods and cement, the list may have more products in the near future, including bottled products, bread and salt.<\/p>\n
