Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Polytechnic Institute of Art – CEARTE – the only institution dedicated to artistic training in high school, has more than 300 vacancies for candidates in the areas of Visual Arts, Cinema, Dance, Music and Theater.<\/b><\/p>\n

“Whoever joins CEARTE, and many people don’t know it, has an open market, can be an art professional in the field of creation and interpretation or can be a teacher”, said Pedagogical Assistant Director Gaspar Agostinho Neto.<\/p>\n

Of the vacancies available, so far registrations have reached about 87 percent of the places reserved for the next academic year 2022-2023, although candidates, in order to be admitted, must undergo a face-to-face test, Portuguese Language and General Culture, as well as as an artistic test, in which the technical conditions are ascertained, bearing in mind that some have advantages for having previously attended private lessons.<\/p>\n

In addition to the middle course, CEARTE also admits candidates for basic courses, who attend from the seventh to the ninth (9th grade), students whose age ranges vary between 12 and 14 years, with the exception of the Cinema area, which does not have of basic course.<\/p>\n

Applications require presentation of a passport photo, copy of the Identity Card, or Personal Card, and sixth grade certificate (for elementary school) and copy of the ninth grade certificate (for high school), accompanied by the original.<\/p>\n

The Basic Course aims to provide the institution with students who have the vocation to develop their skills and be the first to form the body of preference for admission to high school, providing them with technical and professional quality.<\/p>\n

Classes are made up of 22 students. For the creation of pedagogical conditions, in 2017 the institution received support from musical instruments, from the Ministerial Department of Culture.<\/p>\n

Among the musical equipment, violins, cellos, basses, accordions and percussion equipment stand out. This set of equipment provides better didactic conditions for Music students, contrary to Visual Arts, Cinema, Dance and Theater students who show a deficit in the acquisition of materials for their survival.<\/p>\n

It is important to highlight that equipment such as tights, sneakers, socks, suits, among other accessories, are difficult to obtain locally, since the national market is lacking in this aspect.<\/p>\n

According to the Pedagogical Deputy Director, the national deficit market meant that the projects and perspectives of developing and designing a youth orchestra, National Theater Company, Dance Company, at a time when Cuban teachers were at CEARTE\u201d did not materialize.<\/p>\n

One of the board’s objectives is to bring the institution to the attention of all Angolan society, and in terms of the Southern African and PALOP countries, “to leave the unknown, moving forward, because for many years we were a neglected training area, now our mission is to be ahead, and whenever we appear, we demonstrate solidity, and that we are strong\u201d.<\/p>\n

Advantages of the institution
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

CEARTE has dual subordination through two ministerial departments, which translates into an advantage for the institution. The administrative part is governed by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and the Environment, and the methodological part by the Ministry of Education, whose support focuses on furniture, donating desks, chairs, among other equipment of a methodological nature.<\/p>\n

Far from basic training, in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades, with the primacy of developing the vocation of teenagers, CEARTE trains middle technicians, one dedicated to the creation and interpretation of works of art and the other to teacher training, from EVP , Music Education, Drama Education in order to meet the needs of primary and general public schools.<\/p>\n

The Pedagogical Deputy Director advises parents to invest in future artists, starting at the basic level (7th, 8th and 9th grades), because students will have better technical and even physiological conditions to develop creative skills, “the skills with the instruments, knowledge of technical and artistic language, capable of clearly influencing the entire process of artistic training\u201d.<\/p>\n

In a few years from now, when students in basic courses reach the tenth grade, they will be better, more qualified than those who only start in high school. “This will imply changing our curricular plans, providing them with greater technical and professional demands”.<\/p>\n

Offer on the job market
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

The profile of mid-level technicians trained at CEARTE allows for a professional career in the national and international market. It has already trained 178 medium technicians in different artistic areas.<\/p>\n

The offer of jobs is vast both in the national and international markets (outside the country) and has been unknown to many parents and guardians, as well as the students themselves.<\/p>\n

“There are many open fields, medium technicians trained in Cearte can develop as teachers or creators, interpreters, being able, among other things, to create a dance company, theater company, they can create a musical band, a production company, a musical recording studio, work on architectural development projects, landscaping, interior decoration, fashion design, interior design, and many other creative areas.<\/p>\n

They also have the course on Entrepreneurship that gives them content to develop particular activities, opening a business\u201d.<\/p>\n

History of the Complex of Art Schools
\n<\/b><\/p>\n

As CEARTE is a Polytechnic Institute of Art – n\u00ba 9011 – it is the complex of art schools that results from several artistic training institutions, before they existed in isolation, giving rise to the Polytechnic Institute of Arts.<\/p>\n

The former schools (Music, Dance, Theater and Visual and Plastic Arts – which operated in the former Luanda Music Academy (Avenida 4 de Fevereiro), developed their activities taking into account the development policies issued by the National Institute of Artistic and Cultural Center (INFAC), followed by the National Institute of Artistic Training (INFA), then the National Directorate of Artistic Training (DINFA) \u2013 bodies of the Ministry of Culture whose object of activity was to equate artistic training policies in Angola.<\/p>\n

CEARTE, founded in 2015, after four years of pedagogical activity, has begun to bear fruit, although there have been numerous difficulties, such as access for students, teachers and administrative staff.<\/p>\n

Recently, in the academic year that ended, 81 art students graduated in different areas. From the point of view of Professor Gaspar Agostinho Neto, these data indicate that there is still a long way to go for the institution to achieve its purposes, however, “there is beginning to be some understanding about the return of these cadres to the spheres of artistic technical-professional education, so that the processes teacher admission means seriously investing in artistic training within our own institutions\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cearte has a general director, Eus\u00e9bio Pinto, two deputy directors, one Pedagogical, Gaspar Agostinho, and another Administrative, Nelson Augusto, it has five coordinators of the training areas, namely Visual and Plastic Arts, Cinema, Dance, Music and Theater, and are more than 90 courses related to the different areas of training are given.<\/p>\n

There are 167 teachers who provide training at CEARTE, all Angolans, including middle technicians, graduates, masters and doctors, but there is a lack of other specialists to allow the diversification of courses, as only 19 work. Even so, they do not satisfy all pedagogical needs. “There has to be a perspective focused on higher education because the country lacks cadres for the Arts, since the training of graduates, masters and doctors in these specialties) is urgent”.<\/p>\n
