Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The judge – referee Maria Jos\u00e9 Apar\u00edcio integrates a list of three African professionals selected by the International Federation (FINA) to evolve in the Swimming World Championship, to be held from the 30th of this month to the 5th of September, in the city of Lima, Peru.<\/b>
\nThe Angolan joins Bouchra Quazzane (Morocco) and Noel Kiumsi (Tanzania), in a total of 25 referees from various countries around the world chosen for the event.<\/p>\n

Thus, the also president of the Arbitration Council of the Angolan Swimming Federation (FAN) is part of the “cream” of national referees who have already shone in World Championships, after the late Lino Louren\u00e7o (1996), Joaquim Pestana (2000) and Osvaldo Morais (2017).<\/p>\n

Maria, who became an international official in 2016, is a trainer of national category swimming referee officials.<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old, in addition to being a specialist in pure swimming (in a pool), is also well versed in open water, in lakes, rivers and seas.<\/p>\n

In total, the country has five international judges, a number that the president of the FAN, Joaquim Santos, said is being worked on with training for duplication.<\/p>\n

He explained that the objective is to make more local judges, through actions of continuous training, officiate in African and world competitions, the goal being the presence of Angolan referees in the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

In two years, FAN launched 28 new national category judges on the sports market.<\/p>\n

In the World Championship, the National Team is represented by Nyriam Morais, Rafael Bredel, Alex Fortes, N’hara Fernandes and Yusseni Furtado, all already on the competition stage. In the last edition, in 2019, in Budapest (Hungary), the national match did not go beyond the preliminary stage.<\/p>\n
