Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The leader of the Nationalist Justice Party in Angola (P-NJANGO), Dinho Chingunji, this Tuesday congratulated Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o on his re-election to the post of President of the Republic in the General Elections of 24 August.<\/b><\/p>\n

Dinho Chingunji said he hoped that Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, as President of the Republic, would govern for all Angolans.<\/p>\n

The head of the MPLA list, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, was declared, on Monday, 29, by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), President of the Republic elected, for the victory of the MPLA, in the General Elections of August 24, with 51.17 percent of the vote, electing 124 deputies to the National Assembly, consisting of 220 seats.<\/p>\n

P-NJANGO was the least voted party in the elections. It obtained 26,867 votes, corresponding to 0.42 percent, and should be extinguished, due to legal imperatives.<\/p>\n

The Political Parties Law (Law n\u00ba 22\/10, of 3 December) establishes that the political formation that does not compete in two consecutive elections or that, having participated, does not obtain at least 0.5 percent of the votes, is extinct.<\/p>\n

Dinho Chingunji said yesterday, in reaction to the results achieved in the General Elections, that his political formation is here to stay and, therefore, “does not give up at the first barrier”.<\/p>\n

He supported his statement, with the argument that “we are here to stay and the new times of the future will still have a lot of space for us”.<\/p>\n

The P-NJANGO leader did not clarify, however, whether its continuity would be in an existing party or in another one to be created. In turn, the vice president of P-NJANGO, Ant\u00f3nio Barros, said, Monday, 29, that the party hopes to run in local elections, still in this five-year period.<\/p>\n

When the first results of the election began to be announced, Dinho Chingunji was the first candidate to accept the provisional results, which gave the MPLA victory, with an absolute majority.<\/p>\n

P-NJANGO ran for the first time in the General Elections, alongside the MPLA, UNITA FNLA, APN (which will also be declared extinct), PHA, PRS and CASA-CE.<\/p>\n
