Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A group of 150 officers make up the first detachment of the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR) of Cuanza-Norte, created on Tuesday, in the community of Carianga, municipality of Cazengo, with the aim of strengthening the fight against crime in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

The second commander of the PIR, commissioner M\u00e1rio Queiroz Marques, said, at the act, that the creation of this detachment is a step towards guaranteeing security in the province, as well as in the surrounding localities.<\/p>\n

The new contingent, he explained, has the specific mission of combating specific acts of rebellion, violent crime and actions that disrupt order and tranquility in the ten municipalities in the province.<\/p>\n

He asked the members of the corporation to commit to the causes of the country, in order to dignify the oath taken. “The courage of the 23 women, who are part of the group, must also be highlighted, with emphasis on the commander of the new PIR detachment”.<\/p>\n

The commander of the National Police in Cuanza-Norte, Ant\u00f3nio Neto, considers the creation of this new body of PIR personnel to complement the three levels of police intervention in the region, together with the Public Order Unit and the Reaction and Patrol Unit.<\/p>\n

The governor of Cuanza-Norte, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, highlighted the initiative of the Ministry of the Interior to create a PIR detachment in the province, as it is an “added value” in the protection of the population and the various strategic interests of the State.<\/p>\n

For the governor, the operational situation in the province is calm, but he believes that the creation of new population clusters, through the urbanizations of Kilometer 11 and Catome, may require greater dynamics of police monitoring.<\/p>\n

At the moment, he added, he is more concerned about the increase in environmental crimes, linked to the indiscriminate felling and felling of trees and the hunting of wild animals. “Another concern is the anarchic fires, which occurred at the time of Cacimbo, in all the municipalities of Cuanza-Norte”, he lamented.<\/p>\n
