Each political formation competing for the elections received, for the electoral campaign, the value of four hundred and forty-four million, eight hundred and two thousand kwanzas (444,802,000 Kz).

Accordingly, the PRG reports that, following the election of 24 August, successive manifestations of discontent have been registered across the country, accompanied by acts of vandalism by citizens who served as list delegates in assemblies of vote, assigned to certain political forces.

Regarding the non-fulfillment of the commitment assumed by these political parties, some citizens, feeling defrauded, filed a complaint with the Criminal Investigation Service-SIC and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

In view of the seriousness of the facts, indicates the PGR, investigative procedures have been opened to ascertain the nature and responsibility of the acts carried out by the various actors. Considering the dimension and impact on public order that these behaviors manifest, the PGR warns “the protesters, who must use legal mechanisms to claim legitimate rights, under penalty of accountability for the various crimes likely to be committed in these violent actions.

Delegates threaten to take APN and FNLA to court

The directors of the two parties in the province registered a large gathering of people who spoke out against non-compliance with the payment of subsidies for work in polling stations.

The APN and FNLA list delegates in Moxico threatened, yesterday, in Luena, to take the secretaries of those political formations in the province to court, for failure to pay subsidies for the work carried out.

The directorates of the two parties in the province registered a large gathering of people who protested against non-compliance with the payment of subsidies for having worked as delegates on the list in the General Elections of 24 August.

José Ribeiro, one of the delegates on the APN list, said that they worked without food subsidies and went to the party leadership to see the situation resolved, but the local leaders are uncontactable.

Meury Kiosa, an APN inspector, who worked at polling station 6,937, in the Kapango neighborhood, regretted the fact that this party postponed the payment of subsidies and promised to take the case to court if the situation is not resolved within 48 hours.

For his part, Valdemiro Gabriel, deputy on the FNLA’s alternate list, who supervised the election at polling station 550, said that he and a dozen other young people are going to formalize a lawsuit against the party, for not being served for five days. .

“There is no credible information. The secretary disappeared after many lies. They are saying to appear on the 8th or 15th, which is not fair”, lamented Teresa Gomes and Jeremias Jones, FNLA inspectors, who would receive 30 thousand kwanzas from subsidy each.

In response, the acting secretary of the APN in Moxico, Francisco Malitchi, said that the situation will be resolved as soon as the party’s top official in the province returns. It is allegedly in Luanda to resolve the situation.

Angop tried to contact the FNLA board, without success. Delegation ports are closed.

The MPLA won the elections in Moxico with 67.28% electing four deputies, against one for UNITA.

Complaints also in Cunene

Altogether, 2,685 delegates from CASA-CE, FNLA and APN lists, in Cunene province, held demonstrations yesterday against delays in the delivery of their subsidies.

According to Angop, the demonstrations took place in front of the headquarters of the provincial committees of CASA-CE, FNLA and APN, in the districts of Naipalala and Caculuvale, in the city of Ondjiva.

The spokesperson for the CASA-CE list delegates, Fernando Gonçalves, said that the demonstration was made to demand payment for work performed on election day.

He said he had not received any clear and hopeful information that shows that the situation will be resolved as soon as possible, which is creating dissatisfaction among the list delegates.

Avelino Delfim, from the FNLA, said that, until yesterday, they had not received the subsidy corresponding to the work provided in the polling stations at the level of the six municipalities in the province.

José Penombili, from APN, also said that the purpose of the demonstration was to demand convincing information regarding the payment of amounts.

Party responses

The secretary for Organization and Staff of CASA-CE in Cunene, Eugénio Carlito, said that, until Monday, the coalition had not received any amount to pay the 804 recruited list delegates.

The leader appealed to the delegates on the list to remain calm, while efforts are made to, together with the central bodies of CASA-CE, an answer to settle the debt.

The provincial secretary for Electoral Affairs and Municipalities of the FNLA, Fidel de Castro, admitted that the lack of payment of subsidies gave rise to the demonstration, but guaranteed that the matter was being dealt with to meet the 457 delegates on the list.

The provincial secretary of the APN, Josimar da Silva, said that he is waiting for the availability of funds for later distribution to the 1,444 delegates on the party’s list.

For the fifth General Elections, Cunene had 644 assemblies and 925 polling stations, to which 430,899 voters attended. The MPLA won the election in Cunene province, obtaining 82.89 percent of the votes and electing the five deputies from the provincial circle.

For More News And Analysis About Angola Follow Africa-Press

Africa-Press – Angola.
