Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The mobility of staff inherent to Sonangol’s restructuring process, based on the full safeguarding and protection of the rights of all workers, respect for jobs and employment contracts, in accordance with all applicable legislation, constitute the presuppositions for the inexistence of collective redundancies. .<\/b><\/p>\n

The analysis was carried out by the executive director of the national oil company, Olga Sabalo, cited by the latest edition of the fortnightly publication “Paca\u00e7a”, in which she addressed some aspects of the areas under her responsibility, within the framework of the profound changes underway in the company.<\/p>\n

The mobility of workers, according to Olga Sabalo’s perspective, is a normal process inherent to corporate restructuring projects, so that “Sonangol, when undergoing a regeneration, needed to alter, change and transfer some workers in terms of they previously exercised\u201d.<\/p>\n

The official asserted that there was no collective dismissal process, “which leads us to conclude that the complete mobility process was a success under the terms implemented by Sonangol”.<\/p>\n

Regarding the cases of workers linked to service providers, the executive director of Sonangol said that, in fact, the management of non-executive staff is “very complex”, insofar as the link with service providers always generates expectations. among its workers, given the large size of Sonangol.<\/p>\n

Olga Sabalo clarified that, within the scope of the contracts concluded with the employers of these workers, “there is no obligation on the part of Sonangol in terms of framework, nor any right on the part of these workers or their companies in terms of recruitment”.<\/p>\n

“Any complaints, if any, must be analyzed on a case-by-case basis and, if we have legal grounds, so that the processes are rethought, provided there is no bad faith, they can be resolved”, he assured.<\/p>\n

The set of policies, regulations and legal procedures, stressed the official, has proved to be effective in safeguarding the interests of the organization, with greater focus on aspects related to deviant conduct, whether of employees, suppliers or other parties that relate to Sonangol.<\/p>\n

“In general, let’s say that Sonangol currently has a set of policies, regulations and procedures that are specifically linked to the safeguarding and protection of its own reputation, both of Sonangol, as the parent entity, and of the Business Units. These instruments were all designed based on the law and on what are the best practices of the oil industry at a national and international level\u201d, he maintained.<\/p>\n

Olga Sabalo also recalled that the Board of Directors recently approved the revision of the code of ethical conduct, as well as a set of policies and regulations related to aspects of compliance, conflicts of interest, anti-bribery issues, corruption, fraud, offers, gifts, hospitality, entertainment, non-retaliation policies and related party transactions.<\/p>\n
