Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>After a demonstration held, on Friday, in Luanda, by TAAG cabin crew, contesting alleged dismissals, the company issued a statement declaring its willingness to dialogue within \u201ctheir own and legal forums\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement sent to the Editorial Board of Jornal de Angola, by the Communication and Press Office, TAAG states that it became aware of a letter from the Provincial Union of Cabin Sailing Personnel (SINPROPNC) notifying the Provincial Government of Luanda about the holding of a demonstration on yesterday.<\/p>\n

The statement says that the company’s leadership does not interfere with the workers’ right to demonstrate and reaffirms the commitment to dialogue with the union forces involved in the company and SINPROPNC.<\/p>\n

According to some TAAG workers, cabin crew have been dissatisfied with the decisions of TAAG’s Board of Directors for some time. For this reason, he held, yesterday, a peaceful demonstration in favor of his rights.<\/p>\n

One of the workers says that 10 employees have already been fired, in Luanda, the same is happening with the stores in Lisbon, in Portugal, and in Windhoek, in Namibia.<\/p>\n

During the demonstration, workers claimed the fact that Angolans were being withdrawn from TAAG to be inserted into Spaniards and Portuguese.<\/p>\n

The chairman of TAAG’s Board of Directors, Ana Major, recently denied all the workers’ accusations, having said that it is not TAAG’s policy to fire employees, in the hope that better days will come.<\/p>\n

“TAAG is not laying off staff, nor is it firing Cabin Navigator Personnel (PCN)”, says Ana Major in a statement published to answer questions related to the company’s operation, explaining that, among this class of professionals, there are some employees with no affiliation. permanent or with fixed-term employment contracts, which are not being renewed.<\/p>\n

Regarding the closing of the company’s services in Lisbon, he said that the company adopted the same model for the Portuguese capital that it has in Brazil, South Africa and Spain, where the agency replaces its own offices, continuing the operation in General Sales Agent format ( SGA) and with a minimum of employees.<\/p>\n

There are no known operational consequences of the demonstration held yesterday in Luanda.<\/p>\n
