Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The writer Ant\u00f3nio Quino addressed Thursday, via Zoom, at the Academia Conversation, about \u201cAngolan homeland in the eyes of Agostinho Neto\u201d, in the presence of academics from South Africa, Angola, Saudi Arabia, Brazil and Portugal, an achievement of the Academy Angolan Letters (AAL).<\/b><\/p>\n

This edition of Conversa da Academia, which marked the first conference of the cycle on the occasion of the Centenary of Agostinho Neto, was moderated by historian and anthropologist Patr\u00edcio Batsikama.<\/p>\n

The speaker of the week spoke of the presence of the Angolan homeland in the writings of Agostinho Neto, a homeland based on anthropological and sociological assumptions that link Angolans to their land, with values \u200b\u200bto defend and a spiritual location to respect.<\/p>\n

The writer Ant\u00f3nio Quino, who is a founding member of the Angolan Academy of Letters, mentioned the importance of society over the individual, since, in Bantu communities, no one conceives of the person without the community with which the person identifies.<\/p>\n

Agostinho Neto said that “from Cabinda to Cunene united by the common feeling of homeland, \u2026 let us honor the fallen heroes \u2026 and we will be worthy of their example\u201d.<\/p>\n

After ending the struggle against the Portuguese colonial system, proclaiming national independence, Neto began a new struggle, “for the construction of a just society and for the creation of a new man”. and a hymn, Neto’s intention became to leave a fairer society for our descendants, as our ancestors had already predicted.<\/p>\n

Solidarity and responsibility were two of the values \u200b\u200bsignaled by Ant\u00f3nio Quino, because for Agostinho Neto, solidarity should not only be addressed to Angolans, but also to others: “In Namibia and in South Africa is the continuation of our struggle”, for “this is the time to march together boldly into the world of all men.”<\/p>\n
