Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The musician and composer Bal\u00f3 Janu\u00e1rio appealed, this Sunday, in Cuanza-Norte, for the preservation of peace, national unity and fair-play between the political formations competing in the General Elections of 24 August.<\/b><\/p>\n

In brief statements to the press, the artist highlighted the political maturity of citizens during the election process, which, in his opinion, represents another step towards the “consolidation of democracy” in Angola.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, he disapproved of attitudes of “political intolerance”, warning that this behavior “pinches the democratic process” in the country.<\/p>\n

Respect for the will of the people<\/b><\/p>\n

The parties should avoid pronouncements likely to create social instability, based on respect for the will of the people who decided the country’s future managers in the General Elections on 24 August, defended the MPLA’s first provincial secretary in Cuanza-Norte.<\/p>\n

According to Adriano Mendes de Carvalho, who made these remarks at the opening of his party’s party, on Saturday, in Ndalatando, marked by the performance of several national and local musicians, in the celebration of the victory of the “comrades” party, politicians have responsibilities and must avoid the speech of fraud to justify defeat.<\/p>\n

“The MPLA’s victory came about through the will of the people, expressed at the polls, so that our party and its candidate can govern the country in the next five years,” he said, highlighting the greatness and participation of militants, sympathizers, friends and the population in the march to celebrate the triumph obtained in the last elections.<\/p>\n

Despite losing two deputies, unlike the four previous General Elections (1992, 2008, 2012 and 2017), in which the MPLA won the five possible ones from the local circle, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho was calm and satisfied with the result achieved.<\/p>\n

According to the politician, the population has shown that it is confident in the governance of the MPLA and will continue to work to be worthy of this confidence. He stressed that from now on the next Government to be formed will show more work to put the country on the development path.<\/p>\n

For the MPLA, investing in Education is a priority, an issue reflected in the governance program for the next five years, alongside the training of teachers from a scientific, technical and pedagogical point of view, in addition to the increasingly development of policies for improvement of citizens’ quality of life.<\/p>\n

The MPLA victory celebrations ended with a musical-cultural marathon at Largo das Escolas, with a live performance by singers to the sound of Banda Movimento. Highlights for the exhibitions by Bal\u00f3 Janu\u00e1rio, Pai VC, Pastor Joel, Fam\u00edlia Malamba and others.<\/p>\n

The MPLA won the fifth General Elections with an absolute majority (51.17 percent), corresponding to 3,209,429 votes, which resulted in the reelection of its candidate, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, as well as the election of Vice-President, Esperan\u00e7a Costa , reaching 124 seats in the National Assembly, according to the final results of the National Electoral Commission (CNE).<\/p>\n

UNITA, the largest opposition party, obtained 43.95% (2,756,786 votes), corresponding to 90 deputies, followed by the PRS, with 1.14% (71,351 votes), the FNLA with 1.06% (66,337) and from the PHA, 1.02% (63,049), which elected two deputies each. CASA-CE, with 0.76 percent (47,446), failed to elect a deputy, as did the APN, with 0.48 percent (30,139) and P-NJANGO with 0.42 percent (26,867).<\/p>\n
