Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>This Monday, in Luanda, UNITA analyzed the post-election situation, mentioning the injunction denied by the Constitutional Court, when proposing the constitution of a multidisciplinary commission, to be integrated, if the idea goes ahead, by the CNE, members of the parties competing politicians, civil society, national and international observers, for the resolution of electoral disputes.<\/b><\/p>\n

UNITA’s proposal was presented to the country by its leader, in a presidium composed of members of the extended team within the scope of the General Elections. Adalberto Costa J\u00fanior insisted on the national verification of electoral data, based on the law and an inspection for the authenticity of the minutes.<\/p>\n

The president of UNITA also asked for the annulment of voting at polling stations, where substantial irregularities had been observed that distorted the general result of the elections.<\/p>\n

Adalberto Costa J\u00fanior, without indicating any polling station where such a situation had occurred, stated that UNITA, by depositing with the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and the Constitutional Court the complaints and appeals aimed at restoring the electoral truth, is granting a “decisive opportunity ” so that the electoral dispute is resolved.<\/p>\n

For the president of UNITA, the injunction sent to the Constitutional Court, according to the law, suspends the results declared by the National Electoral Commission, until the dispute is overcome.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the Constitutional Court denied the measure presented by UNITA, as it did not meet the cumulative requirements for its decree, under Articles 399 and following of the Code of Civil Procedure.<\/p>\n

The final results of the General Elections, which took place on 24 August, gave the MPLA victory, with 51.17 percent, which allowed it to elect 124 deputies. UNITA, the largest opposition party, won 43.95 percent, having won 90 seats in Parliament.<\/p>\n
