Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The academic year 2022\/2023 opened, this Monday, in the province of Bengo, will have more than ten million students enrolled, across the country, in Pre-School, Primary and Secondary Education, advanced, in Caxito, the Minister of State and Head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic.<\/b><\/p>\n

Ad\u00e3o de Almeida, who made the official opening of the academic year 2022\/2023, at Est\u00e1dio Municipal do Dande, stressed that more than one million and 600 new students are enrolled in the first class alone.<\/p>\n

He underlined that to ensure the academic year in general education, the country has around 220,000 teachers, with a total of 7,500 teachers coming out of the last two public tenders for access to the Education sector.<\/p>\n

He added that, in the coming months, more than 40 schools will be completed and made available to students, for use in the current academic year, to accommodate more than ten thousand new students.<\/p>\n

According to the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, the increase in classrooms and the number of students must be accompanied by the addition of teachers. “And in the last five years (2017-2022) around 45,000 new teachers were admitted and more than 670 schools were built, which made it possible to welcome around two million new students in the different education systems”, he confirmed.<\/p>\n

For Ad\u00e3o de Almeida, the data provided by him leave no doubt about the great national commitment, so that there is a truly universal education in Angola that is accessible to all citizens.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State acknowledged that much remains to be done, so that working conditions in schools and rural communities are improved, encouraging, above all, teachers who are put to work in the most remote areas of the country.<\/p>\n

Regarding the motto “Transforming Education to respond to the challenges of school inclusion and create resilience”, chosen for this school year, he clarified that the idea necessarily passes for the construction of a curriculum that can introduce interdisciplinary learning, capable of developing the capacity students’ criticism and a perfect understanding of their surroundings.<\/p>\n

For this to happen, Ad\u00e3o de Almeida stressed that it is necessary to carry out a permanent reassessment of the strategies, methods and forms of teaching organization, in the most different domains, so that the school can follow the changes and global trends.<\/p>\n

“We need the learning and teaching process to remove students from the passive position, of simple receptors of knowledge, and place them as agents capable of developing critical, free and autonomous thinking”, he stressed.<\/p>\n

He stressed that, in this regard, it is worth mentioning the holding, for the first time in the country, of the national exams that served as a pilot experience for students in the 6th and 12th grades, in the subjects of Portuguese Language and Mathematics.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the pilot exercise will help to establish the administrative and logistical model of national exams, reinforcing that it will enable the skills of human resources to be trained and create conditions for expansion to other disciplines.<\/p>\n

“No one should be left behind, especially with regard to the right to training and the exercise of citizenship. We have to aim for quality education for all and, due to these factors, several structuring projects have been developed by the Education sector”, referred.<\/p>\n

He added that the girls’ empowerment project and another one for learning for all are some of the sector’s initiatives.<\/p>\n

Free Manuals<\/b><\/p>\n

The Minister of State and head of the Civil House of the President of the Republic, Ad\u00e3o de Almeida, also advanced that, for the current academic year, the school education manuals for Primary Education were processed, revised and updated, with the production of 48 million school books and other technical and laboratory teaching materials.<\/p>\n

“The 48 million school books will be distributed free of charge, in an effort to ensure that students have conditions for a normal learning process”, he said.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the national secretary of the Angolan Teachers Association (APA), Manuel Gonga, appealed to legal entities to create working and housing conditions for teachers, in addition to granting transport and isolation subsidies to those who work in remote areas or in the most remote communities of the country.<\/p>\n

Manuel Gonga, who valued the investments made under the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), asked for an increase in the budget for the Education sector, so that the Executive continues to build modern and properly equipped schools.<\/p>\n

“We call for a review of the situation of education agents who, despite increasing academic and professional levels, were not promoted in the corresponding grades, taking into account the length of service”, he contested.<\/p>\n

He praised the progress made by the Ministry of Education (MED) during the last academic year, with the salary increase, admission of 14,000 teachers in the last two public competitions held in the country, as well as the public competition for the promotion and updating of degrees of education agents, as a result of the memorandum of understanding between the unions and the MED.<\/p>\n

“Teachers had a relevant performance in polling stations, as patriots, despite being on vacation, aware that we must transform education to respond to the challenges of school inclusion and create resilience, teachers are called to commit to education \u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

Recognized Commitment Of Teachers<\/b><\/p>\n

The governor of Bengo, Mara Quiosa, recognized the engagement of professionals in the education sector in the province, taking into account the results achieved over the last few years, well reflected in the quantitative and qualitative increase in the educational and training offer, as a result of constant improvement. of the organization and full compliance with the methodological guidelines.<\/p>\n

He recalled that, in 2018, the province of Bengo had 1,796 classrooms. But with the implementation of programs such as the PIIM and the Fight against Poverty, investments were made that allowed the school network to be expanded to 1,902 classrooms.<\/p>\n

According to the governor, the province of Bengo also benefited from a reinforcement of 845 teachers.<\/p>\n
