Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda da Silva Mendon\u00e7a, was awarded, yesterday, in Luanda, by the Brazilian Embassy, \u200b\u200bwith the Order of Rio Branco, one of the most prestigious distinctions in that Portuguese-speaking country, for the contribution given to the strengthening and expansion of the relations between Angola and Brazil.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan diplomat received the distinction, yesterday morning, from the hands of the Brazilian ambassador to Angola, Rafael de Mello Vidal.<\/p>\n

At the same ceremony, held at the Embassy of Brazil, in the Miramar neighbourhood, the Director General of the State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Isabel Paula de Castro, and the National Director of Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior, Commissioner Jos\u00e9 Dembi.<\/p>\n

The Brazilian ambassador to Angola, who presented the award on behalf of the Brazilian Government, clarified that the distinction of high Angolan personalities, with the Order of Rio Branco, aimed at recognizing the “great contribution” made by them in the process of strengthening relations between Angola and Brazil.<\/p>\n

“They have worked hard on the strategic partnership between the two countries, in addition to being strong allies of the two peoples, in the effort to increase, intensify, expand and strengthen the bilateral agenda”, said Rafael de Mello Vidal, for whom the initiative reflects the recognition of President Jair Bolsonaro, the Brazilian Government and people. Rafael de Mello Vidal made it known that the initiative is part of the festivities of the bicentennial of the Independence of Brazil, marked on the 7th of this month. As a thank you, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, speaking on behalf of all distinguished individuals, said that the gesture will allow greater dedication and competence in the performance of the missions they carry out, thus contributing to<\/p>\n

Esmeralda da Silva Mendon\u00e7a said that it was a great honor to receive this award whose symbolism, as she underlined, surpasses any individual effort and achieves with the combination of synergies from all those who have supported and dedicated a substantial part of their time to being able to respond to the various challenges and demanding levels experienced throughout his professional career, which is the case of the diplomatic career, which he has followed for almost 30 years.<\/p>\n

In the same act, other Angolan and Brazilian personalities were also decorated for their services, with dedication and audacity, to the Brazilian Nation.<\/p>\n

The order of Rio Branco was established by Decree N\u00ba 51.697, of February 5, 1963, with the aim of distinguishing meritorious services and civic virtues, encouraging the practice of actions and deeds worthy of honor and mention and is granted by the President of the Federative Republic from Brazil.<\/p>\n

According to the Brazilian Government, this award is made in honor of the Patron of Brazilian diplomacy, the Baron of Rio Branco, and also serves to distinguish officials in the diplomatic career.<\/p>\n
