Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Angolan ambassador to the United States of America (USA), Joaquim do Esp\u00edrito Santo, defended the need to revive and strengthen the spirit of Pan-Africanism, with a view to the development of the African continent.
\n<\/b>
\nThe Angolan diplomat expressed his position, last Saturday, during the seminar alluding to the celebrations of the month of the African diaspora in Virginia (USA), where he participated as a speaker, according to a note from the Angolan Embassy that Jornal de Angola had access to.<\/p>\n

Joaquim do Esp\u00edrito Santo considered “fundamental” the mobilization of Africans on the continent and in the diaspora to exchange ideas, fight against poverty and underdevelopment, as well as develop a battle for the emancipation of women and the empowerment of youth.<\/p>\n

Pan-Africanism proposes, among other ideas, the union of the peoples of Africa as a way of enhancing the continent’s voice in the international context, declared the Angolan diplomat, adding that the same (Pan-Africanism) has been “very defended” among the descendants of Africans and people of sub-Saharan African descent emigrated from the continent after the 1960s.<\/p>\n

The seminar, organized by the African Cultural Alliance Tidewater, in partnership with the Old Dominion University, aimed to commemorate and enhance African cultural heritage, taking into account the contribution of ancestors and the African diaspora.<\/p>\n
