Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the International Federation of the Red Cross, Francesco Rocca, reported today in Geneva that 24 African countries are at risk of experiencing a situation worse, next year, than the one they are currently in, the worst in decades.<\/b><\/p>\n

“We predict that the situation will worsen in 2023, and we must act quickly to save as many lives as possible”, said the top representative of the Red Cross, quoted by Not\u00edcias ao Minuto.<\/p>\n

“If we are talking about hunger now, it is not because of the war in Ukraine. We saw that the indicators of a food crisis were appearing in Africa long before this conflict, although it complicated things and aggravated some problems”, highlighted the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, Peter Maurer, at the same press conference, made to clarify the problem of hunger and food shortages throughout the world.<\/p>\n

The same news source reveals that one in three children under the age of 5 in Sub-Saharan soil suffers from chronic malnutrition, two in five pregnant women suffer from anemia, as a result of food shortages, a phenomenon that can be explained by the number of people who have to live and survive on less than EUR 1.90 a day.<\/p>\n
