Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Presidents of Congo, Dennis Sassou Nguessou, of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, of Cape Verde, Jos\u00e9 Maria Neves, of S\u00e3o Tom\u00e9 and Pr\u00edncipe, Carlos Vila Nova, and of Namibia, Hage Geingob, are already in Angola to witness the inauguration of President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the statesmen were welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T\u00e9te Ant\u00f3nio, and the governor of Luanda, Ana Paula de Carvalho. The investiture of President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o and Vice-President of the Republic, Esperan\u00e7a da Costa, will take place today at Pra\u00e7a da Rep\u00fablica, in Luanda, in a ceremony that will be attended by national and international guests, including dozens of Heads of State and of Government.<\/p>\n

The head of the Executive Council of the Corporation for International Development of the United States of America (USA), Scott Nathan, is also in the capital to attend the investiture of the President of the Republic, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o.<\/p>\n

Mandated by US President Joe Biden, Scott Nathan heads a delegation, which includes the US ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, and the deputy responsible for that country’s Military Command for Africa, Andrew Robert Young.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Angola and the United States signed a strategic partnership agreement and cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on Trade, Finance, Energy, Manufacturing, Security, Health and Justice. Angola is the US’s third largest trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to the export of crude oil.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister of Gabon, Christiane Essonka Raponda, and the UN Deputy Secretary General for Central Africa, Abarry Abdou, also arrived to attend the ceremony, representing the Secretary General of the organization, Ant\u00f3nio Guterres.<\/p>\n

Also in the Angolan capital are the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of eSwatini, Cleopas Siphd Dlamini, the Prime Minister of Kenya, Amoson Jeffa Kingi, the Minister of State of Qatar, Fahad Faisal Al Thani, the Speaker of the Algerian Parliament, Ibraim Boughali, as well as Hussein Ali Mwinyi, representing the President of the United Republic of Tanzania. The MPLA and its candidate for President of the Republic were elected on 24 August, with 3,209,429 valid votes, corresponding to 51.17 percent, electing 124 deputies to the National Assembly.<\/p>\n
