Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Citizens residing in the municipality of Belas, in Luanda, wait for a government closer to the Executive to be formed following the General Elections of 24 August, won by the MPLA and its leader, Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o, invested yesterday in the position of President of the Republic. .<\/b><\/p>\n

Cited Wednesday, several interlocutors from the municipality of Belas considered proximity governance to be fundamental, as it promotes the country’s sustainable development.<\/p>\n

University student Manuel Jer\u00f3nimo defended the expansion of projects in the Health, Education and Housing sectors, as well as the creation of more jobs and improvement of communication routes, in partnership with the private sector.<\/p>\n

Still on the expectations surrounding the next government, tradesman Sandra Gomes, from the Quenguela district (Belas), is looking forward to measures that bring improvements in basic sanitation services.<\/p>\n

“Working with the people is the best thing you can do (…) it is the people who must point out what is right or wrong”, noted sociologist Abel Chico, from the Ramiros district.<\/p>\n

In Barra do Kwanza commune, resident Georgina da Silva suggested improvements in the distribution of national income and the construction of more social infrastructure, fundamentally in peripheral areas.<\/p>\n

With 51.17% of the votes obtained, the MPLA won 124 seats in the National Assembly and UNITA, with 43.95%, 90 parliamentarians. The FNLA, PRS and PHA each obtained two deputies.<\/p>\n

More participatory<\/b><\/p>\n

Citizens of Dande, Bengo province, said yesterday in Caxito that they want the new government to get closer to the communities and have governance focused on the social sector.<\/p>\n

Approached by Angop, they hope that the new Government will create more job opportunities for young people and invest more in the Education, Health and Agriculture sectors.<\/p>\n

Municipality Ant\u00f3nio Dias suggested that more work should be done on improving the social conditions of the population, on improving the salaries of civil servants and on the development of mechanized agriculture to boost the industry.<\/p>\n

University student Am\u00e9lia de Castro wants the construction of more hospitals and the training of qualified staff to respond to the demand in health units.<\/p>\n

The fight against corruption, impunity and nepotism must be priorities of the new government, said the student.<\/p>\n

Professor Eduardo Ferraz Andr\u00e9 underlined the need to increase the budget share of the Education sector to allow the construction of more schools, libraries and improve the quality of teaching.<\/p>\n

Mendes Panzo, graduated in Nursing, defended the materialization of the promises made by the MPLA party during the electoral campaign, with a view to improving the social conditions of the population.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that the Government cannot do everything, therefore, he suggested the involvement of the private sector and the whole society in the country’s development.<\/p>\n

Senior identification officer Suzana de Andrade said that the expectation is huge and hopes that the new Government will strive for transparent and fair management, and that it will look at the needs and concerns of the people.<\/p>\n

The seller Catarina M\u00e1rio considers it necessary for the country to move from rudimentary to mechanized agriculture to allow food self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n
