Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>As a politician and writer, Agostinho Neto left a great legacy in the annals of History, whose dimension transcends the borders of the national territory.<\/b><\/p>\n

The deputy governor of Cuando Cubango for the Political, Economic and Social Sector, Ad\u00e9lia Muambeno, said, in the city of Menongue, that citizens in the province will only be able to fulfill the motto of the late President Agostinho Neto, according to which the “most important is to solve the people’s problems\u201d, when they are involved and engaged in the various programs to provide greater dignity and well-being to the populations.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the provincial act of the birth centenary of the Founder of the Nation and the National Hero, he said that in order to live up to this legacy, the Angolan Executive prioritizes for Cuando Cubango the promotion of Agriculture, the recovery of social infrastructures, the reorganization and urbanization of towns, the connection by paved roads between municipalities, the technical-professional training of young people, the improvement of primary health care, the supply of energy and water, housing, among others.<\/p>\n

He recalled that it was in Cu-ando Cubango where Ant\u00f3nio Agostinho Neto said for the first time that “the most important thing is to solve the people’s problems”, during a rally in 1978, in the city of Menongue, and for this reason the citizens of the province must have these words always in mind, in the sense of helping the Central and Local Government in the various tasks to improve the living conditions of the population.<\/p>\n

“As a spirit of work and dedication, we must all commit ourselves to transforming Cuando Cubango into a good land to live in, with the aim of highlighting precisely all aspects of the life of the first President of the Republic of Angola and that are not only linked to his literature,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to the official, talking about the life and work of President Agostinho Neto is not an easy task, “because each stage of his political journey contains many great moments of glory that in due course history will be responsible for unveiling and extolling”.<\/p>\n

He defended the need to continue teaching new and future generations about Neto’s contribution to the liberation of Angola and Southern Africa, as well as the efforts to achieve peace throughout the national territory.<\/p>\n

“It is important that all Angolans celebrate the centenary of the country’s first President to the extent he deserves. He was a convinced nationalist, an accomplished poet, humanist, dedicated family man, guerrilla leader, fearless politician, distinguished statesman, internationalist and sagacious diplomat “, said.<\/p>\n

Ad\u00e9lia Muambeno stressed that the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Agostinho Neto is a tribute with deserved dignity to him who was an international figure, a respected intellectual, humanist, man of art and culture.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the 17th of September, as an ephemeris, eternally reveres the role of Neto, as a way of keeping present the principles, ideals and teachings of this illustrious son of Angola, being a man of culture, doctor, writer and politician who managed to found the foundations on which this nation is built daily.<\/p>\n

Muambeno also said that the achievement of independence in Angola resulted from the efforts of several heroes, some anonymous and others duly honored by history, but it was up to President Agostinho Neto to lead the final moments, intervening on several fronts in the military, diplomatic and political fields.<\/p>\n

As a politician and writer, he underlined that Neto left a great legacy of honor in the annals of history, whose dimension transcends the borders of national territory.<\/p>\n

The provincial act of the centenary of the Founder of the Nation was preceded by the opening of a photographic exhibition in Largo Dr. Ant\u00f3nio Agostinho Neto, in front of the Provincial Government and was attended by provincial directors, public and judicial prosecutors, traditional and religious authorities, members of Defense and Security bodies, members of civil society and the population in general.<\/p>\n
