Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Constitutional Court, Laurinda Cardoso, participates from today to Saturday at the 5th World Congress on Constitutional Justice, in the Republic of Indonesia, in cooperation with the Venice Commission.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note from the Constitutional Court, the venerable judge, who also participates as president of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions (CJCA), will address tomorrow afternoon the limitations of the role of the constitutional courts in peacekeeping.<\/p>\n

The Congress, under the theme “Constitutional Justice and Peace”, is an organization of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, in cooperation with the Venice Commission, which brings together more than 100 constitutional jurisdictions from around the world.<\/p>\n

In Singaraja, north of the island of Bali, Laurinda Cardoso is accompanied by the judge counselor Gilberto Magalh\u00e3es and senior officials of the institution. As president of the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions, Laurinda Cardoso also participates in the 1st joint conference between the Asian Association of Constitutional Courts and Similar Institutions and the CJCA, to analyze the levels of cooperation and protection of fundamental rights, among the various topics on the table. of Asian and African peoples.<\/p>\n

Last February, the Conference of African Constitutional Jurisdictions (CJCA) undertook to assess the possibility of expanding the range of responsibilities, which would include the Organization’s participation in union election observation missions on the continent.<\/p>\n

The proposal, presented by the Constitutional Court of Algeria and accepted by the Conference of Jurisdictions, aims to provide adequate solutions to the constitutional and legislative problems of the continent and rooted in the political, sociological and cultural reality.<\/p>\n
