Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The conclusion of the works on the road section that connects the city of Caxito to the village of Muxaluando, municipality of Nambuangongo, and the improvement of Health and Education services are the main bets defined by the governor of Bengo, to improve the social conditions of the local population.<\/b><\/p>\n

Maria Nelumba, who visited the town on Saturday to introduce herself to the population and listen to the district’s problems, said that a large part of the Caxito\/-Caiengue\/Onzo\/Muxaluando road still needs to be built and rehabilitated.<\/p>\n

He underlined that other problems related to the Health and Education sectors will also deserve greater attention from the Government of Bengo: “In Health, the operating room of the Municipal Hospital of Nambuangongo, which has modern equipment installed 10 years ago, never worked due to lack of technicians to handle them.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the governor, once the problem is resolved, the population will no longer travel a long distance to Caxito in search of this service. In Nambuangongo, the health sector needs more than 500 professionals, including doctors, nurses and diagnostic and therapeutic technicians, to guarantee a better service of medical and medication assistance to the populations of the region.<\/p>\n

Currently, the municipality has 14 doctors, 134 nurses, 47 diagnostic and therapeutic technicians and 32 hospital support technicians, in addition to administrative staff.<\/p>\n

Regarding the Education sector, with 20,933 students enrolled this year, from initiation to 12th grade, in 82 schools spread over the seven municipalities in the municipality, the governor said that the priority is to transform the Escola Escolar into a High School of Health, and to create conditions for the admission of more teachers.<\/p>\n

Nambuangongo has 71 teachers. Maria Nelumba recognized the importance of the agricultural sector in the region, especially in maintaining family income and the families’ diet. She added that despite the difficulties in selling the products, the local farmers work hard to increase local production: “That’s why we have to speed up the road works”.<\/p>\n

PIIM<\/b><\/p>\n

The administrator of Nambuangongo, Domingos Louren\u00e7o, said that the implementation of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM) allowed the opening and earthworks of 600 kilometers of roads, within the municipality. “PIIM is facilitating the movement of people and goods in the seven communes of Nambuangongo, in addition to helping to solve problems related to the lack of water and electricity in the region”, he said.<\/p>\n

According to the municipal administrator, the PIIM also allowed for the repair of water supply systems and generator sets, which were out of order: “Still on electrical energy, the population is anxiously awaiting the completion of the municipality’s electrification project”.<\/p>\n

Bank Services<\/b><\/p>\n

The population of Nambuangongo has long complained about the lack of a bank in the locality. Workers from different public and private institutions, deployed in the region, travel distances to collect their wages and carry out other financial operations.<\/p>\n

The citizens of Nambuangongo are requesting the creation of more leisure spaces, the construction of multipurpose fields to promote sports and more schools, including a medium agrarian institute, health posts and residences for youth.<\/p>\n

Nambuangongo covers an area of \u200b\u200b5,603 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 61,024 inhabitants, mostly peasants, distributed in the municipalities of Muxaluando, Kixico, Kincunzo, Zala, Gombe, Cage Mazumbo and Cana Cassala.<\/p>\n

The Caxito\/Caiengue\/Onzo\/Muxaluando road constitutes a fundamental axis for the transport of agricultural foods grown in Nambuangongo, one of the largest producers of cassava and bananas in the country.<\/p>\n
