Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, participates from today until Saturday, in the city of Accra, capital of Ghana, in the 10th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AFTA).<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the agenda, the report of the 12th Meeting of the Senior Trade Officials Committee was taken into account at the event, where issues related to the Projects of Specific Commitment Lists for Trade in Services were addressed. , as well as the negotiations on the Protocols on Investment, Competition Policy and Intellectual Property Rights.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Minister Victor Fernandes will also witness the official launch of the Guided Trade initiative of the African Continental Free Trade Area, which aims to show the continent its operability and the Secretariat’s readiness to support Member States and the private sector in the implementation of the Agreement so that companies on the continent can benefit from preferential tariffs.<\/p>\n

The Guided Commerce initiative initially has 7 countries selected by the AFTA Secretariat, due to the fact that they have already presented their consolidated Offers and that are technically approved, in addition to having already published in the Di\u00e1rio da Rep\u00fablica the respective calendars and the Declarations of Origin and Declarations from Suppliers or Manufacturers.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the aforementioned initiative also concludes the launch of the African Trade Observatory, with the monitoring of the movement of goods in territories in the AFTA, within preferential standards, that is, in accordance with the Rules of Origin adopted and complying with the initial tariff dismantling period.<\/p>\n

In this sense, the exporting companies will start to pay reduced customs duties and in accordance with the Calendars offered by the countries of destination of the exports.<\/p>\n
