Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The national market is self-sufficient in steel, thanks to an installed capacity of 15,000 tons per month, and demand of 14,500, including monthly exports of 3,000 tons to neighboring countries, told the press the managing director of Fabrimetal, a private metallurgical scrap processing company.<\/b><\/p>\n

“We are producing around 14,500 tonnes and we are already exporting an average of three thousand tonnes per month, but if the domestic market needs it, we stop exporting and deliver to the domestic market,” said Lui\u0301s Diogo.<\/p>\n

The company, which has environmental concepts such as waste disposal in its core business, is committed to finding a solution to curb the high energy consumption in high-temperature furnaces, where, in the melting processes, a capacity of 20 to 30 megawatts.<\/p>\n

Although it is already using biofuel in part of its production, the company is also in the process of replacing fossil fuels with natural gas, a procedure that will have a great impact on reducing the emission of polluting gases and operating costs, according to the director-general. .<\/p>\n

“In a complementary way, we are installing solar panels around the entire perimeter of the factory. We believe that the use of natural gas, photovoltaic solar energy and biomass will have a considerable impact on our production process, especially with regard to the environment and fixed costs of production,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Lui\u0301s Diogo believes that, despite the fact that the company he manages contributes significantly to the reduction of waste, namely ferrous materials in the streets, he cannot neglect the fact that it emits polluting gases in the casting process, which is why the work never leaves aside the need to incorporate new procedures and technologies that allow the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/p>\n

“We make a great contribution to improving the environment, as we buy a lot of ferrous material, but we are aware that we also pollute, because when scraps are melted, a lot of smoke is produced into the atmosphere. In this way, about three years ago, we invested in a smoke filtering system that reduces about 90 percent of all carbon emissions into the atmosphere\u201d, announced Lui\u0301s Diogo.<\/p>\n
