Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A Bombardier Dash-8 Q400, D2-EUQ aircraft, operated by Heli Malongo, landed at Cape Town International Airport on Friday before receiving confirmation to that effect, a situation that caused embarrassment, but promptly resolved with the intervention of the Embassy of Angola in South Africa.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement today, the Embassy in that neighboring country reported that, as the operator of the flight, Heli Malongo made the request for authorization to fly over and land in South African territory, but “did not wait for the sufficient time to obtain a response\u201d, which is why the local authorities \u201cdid not allow the crew of five members to leave the aircraft, likewise preventing passengers from boarding\u201d.<\/p>\n

According to available data, the aircraft traveled to South Africa to pick up 20 passengers from the oil company Chevron, who are stranded in Cape Town, due to the cancellation of flights by TAAG, Linhas Ae\u0301reas de Angola.<\/p>\n

According to the same document, as soon as it became aware of what had happened, the Angolan Embassy contacted the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation to normalize the situation and the plane is currently returning to Luanda.<\/p>\n

“The Embassy of Angola in the Republic of South Africa is grateful for the prompt collaboration of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa to overcome the situation and praises the excellent relations between the two countries”, concludes the press release.<\/p>\n
