Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Ambassador of Angola to Italy, Fa\u0301tima Jardim, who was speaking on the sidelines of the 50th Session of the World Committee on Food and Nutrition Security, under the motto: “Making a difference in Food and Nutrition Security”, held from 10 to 13 October, said that “women guarantee 70% of the production of food consumed by the family and communities and in rural areas” on national soil.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note, it is read that the role of Angolan women is marked by their responsibilities in the education of their children and in the management of family tasks, which is why it is necessary to guarantee financial autonomy and a sustainable social structure, to improve their skills and reduce hunger and poverty in the country.<\/p>\n

With a view to reducing hunger and poverty in the world, Fa\u0301tima Jardim defended that Angola proposes to strengthen national structures, with productive economic and social integration programs, dialogue and interact to improve planning and interaction between governments and all actors, reduce poverty in families through the empowerment of populations, the promotion of associativism, micro-enterprises and the cooperative sector, promote agricultural investments and infrastructure for food systems and the value chain, as well as the promotion of actions to reduce trade informal work in rural and productive areas and in promoting the employment of youth and women.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the Ambassador of Angola in Italy thanked the support that FAO, WFP and financial institutions such as the World Bank are providing to Angola, which will contribute to the adjustment and economic and social stability that our country seeks.<\/p>\n

The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) 2022 report estimates that between 702 and 828 million people were affected by hunger in 2021. The number has grown by around 150 million since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic \u2013 with 103 more million people between 2019 and 2020, and another 46 million in 2021.<\/p>\n
