Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A multisectoral program to support Angola, valued at US$7.5 million, called Train for Trade \u2013 II, financed by the European Union, was analyzed yesterday during a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, and Paul Akiwumi, director for Africa, Least Developed Countries and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Special Programs.<\/b><\/p>\n

The program supports the development of productive capacities in Angola to help the country dependent on crude oil diversify its economy and exports, as well as improve its integration into regional and global value chains.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Train for Trade – II offers training, exchange of experiences and exposure to international cooperation forums and policy advice.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) develops actions in the fields of trade diplomacy, creative economy, entrepreneurship training, investment policy review, transport and logistics and trade facilitation.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the two interlocutors took the opportunity to talk about the green economy and the opportunities for Africa, the process of Graduation of Angola from Least Advanced Country to Middle Income Country, as well as the current climate changes.<\/p>\n

The director for Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programs of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has been in Luanda for a few days, heading a delegation from this international organization, for a seminar of the joint European Union (EU) program. – UNCTAD for Angola, called Train for Trade- II.<\/p>\n

According to statistical data, so far UNCTAD has helped 1,650 Angolans in training, policy development and technical implementation support, in addition to participating in exposure to international meetings. Of this number, half of the beneficiaries come from the public sector, 40% from the private sector and the rest from academia and NGOs.<\/p>\n

Preparation of the 10th OASCP Summit<\/b><\/p>\n

The level of preparation of the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Caribbean and Pacific African States (OEACP), scheduled for December this year, was being analyzed Thursday, in Luanda, during a working meeting held between a delegation led by Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and another led by Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti, Secretary General of the Organization of Caribbean and Pacific African States.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, details related to accommodation, logistics, security, interpretation, the intervention of the diaspora, the places where the events parallel to the Summit of Statesmen will be held, as well as all the protocol inherent to the organization were reviewed.<\/p>\n

The OEACP secretary general expressed his interest in knowing to what extent all organizational aspects are effectively taken care of, having received a positive guarantee from the Angolan side.<\/p>\n

According to the organization, all details are being dealt with so that the 10th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization of Caribbean and Pacific African States is, in fact, a historic milestone for Angola and Africa.<\/p>\n

Under the guidance of Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, the OEACP delegation received detailed explanations given by Ambassador Jose\u0301 Guerreiro Alves Primo, as coordinator of the Preparatory Commission for the Summit, scheduled for Luanda from 6 to 10 December this year.<\/p>\n
