Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Specialists of the first course on Economic Security, promoted by the National Defense Institute (IDN), on Friday (21), in Luanda, considered the elevation of this segment to the level of the National Security System “imperative”.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the political level, the specialists defend the appointment of a national coordinating entity that is responsible for the elaboration of the economic security policy and strategy, ensuring its implementation.<\/p>\n

Economic Security requires the maintenance of the necessary conditions to stimulate a sustainable development of families and business organizations, thus ensuring macroeconomic stability, says the statement released at the end of the meeting.<\/p>\n

The document, read by the director general of the IDN, Anto\u0301nio Miranda, mentions the need to encourage free private enterprise, with a view to guaranteeing decent jobs and income for families.<\/p>\n

Excessive informal economic activity, insufficient economic resources, socio-economic vulnerabilities, lack of access to employment and basic services in health, education, electricity, drinking water and sanitation, poverty, social inequalities and low Human Development Index (HDI), were pointed out by specialists as some of the factors that threaten economic security.<\/p>\n

The course, which lasted five days, addressed the economic and social reforms implemented by the Executive, with a view to guaranteeing the economic security of citizens and protecting the national interest.<\/p>\n

The director of the IDN spoke, in this regard, of the poor adherence of women to the course, noting that of the total of 124 participants, only 24 women were present.<\/p>\n

The cybersecurity technician, Anto\u0301nio Francisco, indicated that, due to lack of economic security, several countries lose more than 145 billion dollars annually.<\/p>\n

On the functioning and importance of cybersecurity, he said that Angola still has a lot of work to be done in this field, adding that there are many cultural factors that need to be changed with a view to promoting and disseminating information.<\/p>\n

On the specific situation of Angola in terms of cybersecurity, he recalled that the country still does not have concrete data on this matter and has limited openness in terms of disclosure of cyber attacks.<\/p>\n

Without needing data, the specialist considered the number of attacks and daily attempts that the country has suffered to be worrying. He pointed out that the challenge involves training professionals through specific courses and curricular programs at universities.<\/p>\n

The activity carried out in partnership with the Center for Legal and Economic Studies of the Faculty of Law of the Agostinho Neto University took place, within the framework of the IDN’s mission, which now supports the Executive in the formulation of national strategic thinking and raises awareness of civil society in matters relating to to Defense and National Security.<\/p>\n

Staff from the Defense and Security Forces, employees from various public and private institutions participated in the course, including members of civil society from various parts of the country.<\/p>\n
