Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In August, Portuguese people working in Angola sent a total of 21.8 million euros to their country, an increase of 15.7 percent when compared to 18.8 million euros in the same period last year.<\/b><\/p>\n

In 2021, the money sent from Angola was 15.7 million euros.<\/p>\n

Data from the Bank of Portugal released yesterday, quoted by Lusa, show that the total amount of remittances from Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP) was 22.3 million euros, with Angola with 21.8 million euros and the remaining countries with only half a million euros (500 thousand euros).<\/p>\n

Overall, remittances from Portuguese emigrants rose 1.24 percent in August, to 311.89 million euros, while immigrants sent 49.23 million, an equal rise of 1.24 percent, according to the Bank of Portugal.<\/p>\n

According to the regulator, in August 2021, Portuguese emigrants had sent 308.07 million.<\/p>\n

Regarding the 49.23 million euros sent by foreigners working in Portugal, the value is slightly above the 48.21 million euros in August last year.<\/p>\n

As usual, Brazilian immigrants represent a significant part of the foreign exchange that left Portugal, with 22.26 million euros which, despite having decreased by 6.4 percent compared to the 23.8 million euros sent in August 2021, represent almost half of all remittances sent by foreigners working in Portugal.<\/p>\n

Banco de Portugal data does not refer to the sum sent by Angolans working in Portugal.<\/p>\n
