Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The plastic artist Lino Damia\u0303o opens today, at 18:30, at Espac\u0327o Espelho D’A\u0301gua, in Lisbon, the exhibition \u201cDe La\u0302ndana ao Virei\u201d, which closes the cycle of five exhibitions presented in that art gallery.<\/b><\/p>\n

This exhibition is curated by Lourdes Fe\u0301ria. After having already participated in several individual and collective exhibitions, inside and outside Portugal, and with a work represented in several collections and spread over several continents, the artist now shows us his most recent work.<\/p>\n

As for Espac\u0327o Espelho D’A\u0301gua, this will be the last exhibition he presents, coming to an end on November 5th. Lino Damia\u0303o has a long-standing relationship with Space. In the same space, he participated in two group exhibitions: \u201cComuting: Os das Bandas\u201d, 2016 and \u201cLelu Kizua\u201d, 2020, the latter curated by Joa\u0303o Silve\u0301rio and Ine\u0302s Valle.<\/p>\n

He is now presenting “De La\u0302ndana Ao Virei”, his first solo exhibition at this location. When visiting this exhibition, between tomorrow and November 5th, you will be able to observe several works by the artist, all dedicated to abstract painting.<\/p>\n

For the curator Lourdes Fe\u0301ria, the exhibition is distinguished by the “uninhibited brushstrokes of color cast on the surface of the paintings that suggest geographies, musical rhapsodies, open horizons, patterns of thought, while at the same time evoking the disturbing power of silence in landscapes empty of figures In this mental itinerancy merges the real with the imaginary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Born in Luanda, Lino Damia\u0303o is inspired by memories gained from scattered trips he made between 2009 and 2017, composing a mosaic of different stays between La\u0302ndana and Virei, geographical extremes of his vast country.<\/p>\n

In this exhibition, he presents his very characteristic way of working, basing his painting not only on his personal experiences, but also on the daily lives of others.<\/p>\n

His route is made up of crossings, between paints, canvas, brushes, exhibitions and jazz concerts.<\/p>\n

His works are in public and private collections in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and the United States.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he collaborates, since 1992, with the production company JJJazz in Luanda, in the organization of jazz concerts and painting and photography exhibitions on the same theme.<\/p>\n

Space path<\/b><\/p>\n

Espac\u0327o Espelho D’A\u0301gua is the result of a public tender organized in 2012 by the Lisbon Tourism Association – ATL, for the exploration of part of a historic building located inside a Espelho de A\u0301gua, in the emblematic area of \u200b\u200bBele\u0301m in Lisbon in front of the Tejo River. In 2014, the Space underwent a major redevelopment intervention that respected the main features of the original building. The new project was conceived to present this space as a platform for contemporary cultural connections between the Portuguese and the world.<\/p>\n

In order to give tangibility to the project, Espac\u0327o Espelho D’A\u0301gua is composed of several centers that complement each other and combine in themselves different forms of cultural dissemination: from the gastronomic journey provided by the Restaurant and Cafeteria, to the exploration of different forms of artistic creation that take place in the Exhibition Space. Here, they were able to get to know different artists, presenting projects that covered the visual arts, concerts, among countless other artistic typologies, in a range of concepts where art and design, music, audiovisuals and interculturality are present. Espac\u0327o comes to an end in November, after several years of bringing people and cultures together.<\/p>\n

It received more than 300,000 people at private events and passing customers, and held about 300 concerts and more than 60 exhibitions. Bearing in mind that the motto of the project has been, in this historic place, to highlight the affective side of the Portuguese journey around the world, it can be concluded that the same was accomplished.<\/p>\n

This Final Cycle of exhibitions has presented several artists, such as Jorge Correia, Francisco Vidal, Ariel de Bigault, Lui\u0301s Jesus, Jonny Easter, Igor Costa and Lui\u0301s Fernandes Pinho, exploring artistic territories as vast as cinema, painting, installation and photography. The Cycle ends with this last exhibition.<\/p>\n

Profile of the plastic artist<\/b><\/p>\n

Lino Damia\u0303o was born in Luanda in 1977 and works mainly in painting, photography and engraving. Encouraged by his father, he started drawing and painting at an early age, having received his first prize in 1989-Pre\u0301mio de Pintura at the Unia\u0303o Nacional de Artistas Pla\u0301sticos. He completed two courses in Drawing and later finished the Course in Plastic Arts, at INFAC in Luanda.<\/p>\n

Today he has lived and worked in Lisbon for over a decade, without ever failing to visit his country of origin. He has participated in several individual and collective exhibitions, including: “Projecto Luandando”, FAUL Lisbon, 2022; “Kubanga Kukatula”, Porto and Lisbon, 2021; “Muros Mentales”, Mexico City, 2018; “Na Boca do Povo”, Espac\u0327o da Fundac\u0327a\u0303o PMLJ, 2012; “1st Stop: Lisbon\u201d, 2012; Literary Festival “Rota das Letras” Macau 2012; Lisbon Contemporary Art Fair, 2010; Luanda Triennale, 2007; “I Biennial of Young Creators of the CPLP\u201d, Cape Verde, 1999, among others. Her works are in public and private collections in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America and the United States.<\/p>\n
