Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The mode and functioning of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), as well as the different legal instruments already signed between the member states of the regional organization were, this Monday (31), discussed in Luanda.<\/b><\/p>\n

On the occasion, Domingos Custo\u0301dio Vieira Lopes, Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held, yesterday morning, a working meeting with Elias Mpedi Magosi, executive secretary of SADC.<\/p>\n

The occasion also served for the executive secretary of SADC to talk about the objectives of the organization and the imperative need for regional integration, in order to guarantee that its citizens fully enjoy the benefits and rights enshrined in the legislation of this southern African community.<\/p>\n

The SADC Executive Secretary also said that the Southern African Development Community’s integration plan is guided by the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030, which is based on three priority areas, namely, Industrialization Development and Market Integration, Infrastructure Development in Support of Regional Integration, Social and Human Capital Development.<\/p>\n

The Southern African Development Community is an economic bloc formed by the countries of Southern Africa, namely Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, ETswatini, Tanzania , Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

The bloc’s objectives are, in short, to promote the growth of the economies of African countries and, consequently, the development and improvement of the quality of life of their people.<\/p>\n

Other objectives, no less important, are the promotion of peace and stability in the region, sustainable development and the fight against HIV\/AIDS, in addition to the reaffirmation of African socio-cultural legacies.<\/p>\n

This courtesy meeting was attended by Beatriz Morais, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Botswana, Ambassador Nazare\u0301 Salvador, Director of the SADC National Committee, as well as senior officials from the Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n
