Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Defender Humberto Mendes “Big” lives special moments in San Juan, Argentina, where the National Roller Hockey Team outlines the latest technical and tactical aspects for the dispute of the World Championship, as it was in that city where he debuted at the age of 18 , at the service of the national senior team.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the time, the athlete was representing the junior team that disputed, in the same year, in Barcelos, Portugal, the world championship of the category, when he was surprised by the call of Miquel Umbert Riera, then head coach.<\/p>\n

“Playing the World Cup here in San Juan is very special for me, because it was in this city where I played my first World Cup in the senior team. It was a great experience, despite being in 11th place”, he recalled with emotion.<\/p>\n

“I’m happy to be back in this city. I remember the moments lived in the 2011 World Cup, today I have the possibility to come back here, where it all started, it’s really special”, he underlined.<\/p>\n

The athlete considers San Juan as the cathedral of world roller hockey and says that it was in that city where people came to know who the “Big” really is.<\/p>\n

“People started to get to know Big here. I’m back in this cathedral of world hockey, and I really hope that this world is better than the last one. In fact, that it’s better than all the others we’ve played. We hope to give our best and achieve a good classification”, he predicted.<\/p>\n

Trained at Petro de Luanda, Big played in Spanish roller hockey where he has represented the teams of Girona CH, CP Manleu, CH Caldes, CE Noia, CE Noia and Calafel.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Angolan international represents Calafell, the club that helped win the European Cup last season. Humberto Mendes will play in San Juan, the sixth world championship of his career, after stints at the junior world championship.<\/p>\n
