Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola supports the African Union’s position in relation to the funding agreed at previous summits on climate change, considering it to be the continent that pollutes the least, despite being the one that suffers the most from the consequences of changes.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a Costa, who represents the Head of State at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP27), which started yesterday, in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt, Africa suffers from floods, severe droughts , forced displacement of populations, among other serious ills that affect thousands of families.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press after an audience with the President of Kenya, William Ruto, on the sidelines of COP27, which is taking place in Egypt, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa considered that the present summit is practically dedicated to Africa, a continent that is determined to show its leadership in climate action, making contributions to globally face the ongoing changes.<\/p>\n

The Vice-President of the Republic of Angola corroborates the statement by the Kenyan statesman, calling the attention of developed countries to the fulfillment of the promises and messages to be assumed at the event, reiterating to that end the position of the African Union in relation to the financing agreed in the previous summits.<\/p>\n

According to Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, holding COP27 in Egypt will, in a special way, convey hope to all Africans, whose opportunity is to make and show a single vision and voice, based on unity.<\/p>\n

This Conference, in Sharm El-Sheik, said the Vice-President of the Republic, is “an approximation of positions both for Africa and for other continents, where the goals on climate change advocated must be achieved”.<\/p>\n

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference calls on countries to effectively implement the Paris accords, namely, limiting global temperature rise above 1.5 degrees Celsius, improving the quality of disbursements and financing mechanisms, especially , for the poorest.<\/p>\n

It is also COP27’s commitment to intensify efforts to implement measures for adaptation, ensure financing for damages and losses, as well as apply the rules of the Book of Paris to hold countries and non-state actors accountable.<\/p>\n

The Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheik continues to welcome world leaders and non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n

During COP27, the Angolan authorities will reaffirm their concern with climate change, one of the greatest challenges that Humanity faces, due to the set of effects that this phenomenon has caused.<\/p>\n

Among the hot topics to be defended by Angola at COP27, the financing of some projects aimed at the Environment, aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change, stands out.<\/p>\n

Angola will present the Blue Carbon project, which is being designed by the Otchiva Association, with the support of Sonangol and Total Energies, of Photovoltaic Power Plants, the so-called clean energies, by the ministries of Energy and Water and of Natural Resources, Oil and Gas, as well as Green Hydrogen.<\/p>\n

These projects will be presented at the Congo Basin Stand, which also has the Fundo Azul Project.<\/p>\n
