Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The first edition of the Agricultural and Livestock Fair, with the participation of more than 20 producers from the ten municipalities of the province of Lunda-Norte, exposes the productive potential of the cultivation of cassava, bananas, vegetables, cereals, among other products.<\/b><\/p>\n

Promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the fair closed yesterday and was also being used by local producers to exchange experiences on the cultivation of various products.<\/p>\n

The director of the Provincial Office for Integrated Economic Development, Lui\u0301s Kitamba, said that the fair aims, in addition to exposing the province’s agricultural potential, to attract investors to promote agribusiness.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the local government’s challenge is to project a diamond-free Lunda Norte in the future, attracting more and more investors to productive sectors such as agriculture, commerce, industry and tourism, taking advantage of the region’s potential.<\/p>\n

Challenges 2022\/2023<\/b><\/p>\n

In the current agricultural season, 171 thousand peasant families, 218 small producers, will ensure the production of tubers, vegetables, cereals and honey.<\/p>\n

To this end, 259,000, 388 hectares of land were prepared, as well as 20 tons of rice seed, 30 of maize, 150 tons of compound fertilizer and 35 of beans, 5 of massango and the same number of massambala have yet to arrive in the province.<\/p>\n

The producers, organized in 701 cooperatives and 994 peasant associations, distributed in the ten municipalities that make up the province, expect to harvest 2 million, 250 thousand and 55 tons of different products.<\/p>\n

Also in the 2022\/2023 agricultural season, a program to promote swine cattle will be underway, which should benefit 37 local breeders, aiming at large-scale meat production in the near future.<\/p>\n

A total of 150 heads of pigs are expected to be received from the Ministry, within the scope of the pig farming project, which aims to increase family income, fight hunger and poverty.<\/p>\n

The project aims to cover 1,500 families in Lunda-Norte, living in communities with a high level of poverty.<\/p>\n

In addition to the delivery of cattle, the Ministry of Agriculture will also promote a training action for the training of beneficiaries on appropriate techniques for animal breeding, development and reproduction.<\/p>\n
