Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Daniel Ant\u00f3nio Rosa, Angola’s ambassador to Singapore, delivered in Manila, Republic of the Philippines, the Letters of Credential that accredit him as head of the diplomatic mission in that Asian country.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a press release, the act took place after the reception by the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs of the original Letters of Credentials on 17 January 2022.
\nThis new modality (by correspondence) is part of the implementation process of the recent accreditation procedures for non-resident ambassadors in the Republic of the Philippines, due to restrictions to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and its variants.<\/p>\n

The ambassador now accredited may be received by Rodrigo Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, as soon as the pandemic situation proves to be favourable. In addition to the Philippines, the Angolan Embassy in Singapore also covers Australia, Brunei, Fiji, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Indonesia, Kiribati, New Zealand, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, East Timor, Tonga and Tuvalu.<\/p>\n

Friendship relations between Angola and the Philippines date back to the beginnings of National Independence, and the formal beginning took place on September 14, 2001, in New York, in an agreement signed by the then permanent representatives of both Republics to the United Nations, Ismael Martins and Henrique Manalo.<\/p>\n

As part of bringing the peoples of the two countries closer together, more than 3,000 Filipinos live in Angola, of which 800 are registered with the Consular Services. The Angolan community registered in this country comprises 194 citizens, 13 from the diplomatic corps and their families, 108 students and 73 residents.<\/p>\n
