Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>In 2023, the national fishing sector will receive support from the Government in the amount of US$300 million within the framework of the strategy to promote the activity and which aims to fully revitalize the country’s production base.<\/b><\/p>\n

This guarantee was reiterated yesterday, in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta, in Benguela, by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Manuel Nunes Ju\u0301nior, during the inauguration of a fish processing factory.<\/p>\n

According to Manuel Nunes Ju\u0301nior, once macroeconomic stability has been achieved, the focus of government action by the Executive is on revitalizing the country’s productive base, with a view to relaunching economic growth and with strong repercussions on the increase in the number of jobs.<\/p>\n

In the particular case of the Gallianus factory, it was advanced, on the occasion that the conservation unit, processation and processing of fish, generated hundreds of jobs. It has a freezing capacity of 190 tons and 40 for conservation.<\/p>\n

Manuel Nunes Ju\u0301nior expressed, on the occasion, full satisfaction with the growing number of industries in the fishing sector in the province of Benguela.<\/p>\n

“I must commend your commitment to the ability to face the constraints that you had throughout the process of setting up this business unit, your resilience was worth it”, he said.<\/p>\n

As for the plan to promote fishing activity, he said that it is expected to be implemented over five years, and that it will benefit the cooperatives in the referred sector, which meet the conditions for access to the referred credit line.<\/p>\n

He also guaranteed that it was a project that would contribute to an increase in catches and the creation of new jobs.<\/p>\n

Positive trajectory<\/b><\/p>\n

In terms of macroeconomics, the Minister of State acknowledged that the country is now returning to the path of economic growth interrupted in 2017. He stated that, in 2021, the period of economic recession, which lasted 5 years, was over.<\/p>\n

“It was a difficult period, where unemployment numbers had gone up very significantly,” he said.<\/p>\n

However, he also recalled that the growth projections for this year and for 2023 are positive and that the role of the non-oil sector, including fisheries, will continue to be very important to have an increasingly strong and sustainable economy.<\/p>\n
